Battle Training

Snowstorm stuck her head into the apprentice den. "Elkpaw, time for training." she called.

Elkpaw looked up from grooming his paws and replied drowsily. "Okay, just give me moment!". He finished getting the dirt from his paws and the moss from his pelt when he walked over to the entrance to the apprentice den. At this point he was a bit more awake and ready for battle training. He scanned the clearing and found Snowstorm waiting for him in the middle of the clearing. He padded over to her happily. "Okay, Im ready!" he replied.

Snowstorm nodded and met Elkpaw in the clearing. "Today, were going to practice some battle moves." she said. She got up and started walking into the heart of RiverClan territory, looking back to see if Elkpaw was following.

Surely enough Elkpaw was keeping his pace, walking only a tail length behind her. It seemed as if there were springs in his paws. He was excited from the night he spent at his first gathering, not to many days ago. He just couldn't get the thrill out from his mind. "Sorry if I seem so energetic today, I just had so much fun at the Gathering that I guess it just hasn't left my system yet!" he explained innocently.

Snowstorm smiled. "That's alright. At my first gathering, I was really excited." she said. Soon, they made it to the heart of the territory. She turned to Elkpaw. "Okay, Elkpaw, do a Front Paw Blow. Just swipe a paw, and keep your claws sheathed." she meowed.

Elkpaw listened as Snowstorm explained that the feeling was normal and what he was to do next. "Okay Ill give it try!". Elkpaw looked at his mentor and swiped his paw, making sure to sheathe his claws, across his mentors muzzle.

"Okay!" he meowed as he swiped his paw over his mentors muzzle once more, but this time with unsheathed claws.

Snowstorm yelped a bit as her muzzle was scratched. "Good job, now, for the Belly Rake, well, it's self explanatory." she continued.

"Okay, I'll try my best!" he hollered as he pummeled Snowstorm to the ground. He then proceeded to hold her down with his front paws as he raked at her belly with unsheathed claws, struggling to keep his balance.

Snowstorm wasn't ready. She yelped as Elkpaw raked her belly. She struggled to get her apprentice off. "Great! Now, for Leap and Hold. Just leap onto the opponent and keep them pinned down so they can't attack." she mewed.

Elkpaw lost his breath as Snowstorm tossed him off of herself. He stood up and found his paws, while listening to the instruction that his mentor presented to him. "Okay!" he huffed enthusiastically. He ran at his mentor and leaped into the air, pinning her to the ground. He landed with his paws placed squarely on Snowstorms chest. "Is this right?" he asked.

Elkpaw used Leap-and-Hold, Costing 10 Stamina and 0 Damage. Snowstorm is pinned down for 1 Turn.

This time, she let her apprentice climb off. She got to her paws. "Okay, now do Run-and-tackle and Tail yank, then I'll show you the two moves only SkyClan cats can use." she instructed.

Elkpaw was glad that he had the chance to climb off of his mentor, rather than her flinging him off. He watched her stand up and tried to listen to every word she said. His head was still spinning from the huge jump he did. He informed him to do a Run-and-Tackle move and a Tail-Yank move. Then they would be able to do Skyclan only moves. "Alright, Ill try!" he meowed. He turned around and walked a few tail lengths away from his mentor. He proceeded to do a quick sharp 360 turn, and ran into his mentor using the whole force of his body weight to pummel her to the ground.

Elkpaw remembered that he also had to yank on her tail, so while she was still dazed he jumped off of her and onto her tail. He then bit her tail and dragged her about a tail length away from the spot she was originally.
