A Final Farewell

"But... But... I... I guess I'm willing to make that sacrifice." He finally mewed, and lovingly gave her cheek a lick. He felt tears brimming in his eyes from all the sadness he felt and it overcame him. The tom never was good in dealing with his emotions. He loved Firestream and the words he said were unwillingly pushed out. But he knew they could be true.

Firestream stared at Blacktail in complete shock.
"Y-you don't have to... I-I," Firestream was too shocked to finish her statement and she hesitantly pressed her cheek against his.

"I... I want to." He admitted finally, trying to help the moment. He gently pressed his face against hers and stared into nothing, unsure.

Firestream smiled.
"I promise I'll make sure nothing bad happens," Firestream whispered.

Blacktail smiled and pressed in closer, then gave her another cheek lick. "Well, in that case..." He started, glancing to her now. "Do... Do you want to be my mate?" He said hesitantly, quietly, smiling solemnly.

Firestream smiled.
"Yes," she responded simply but confidentially.

"Good," He replied, eyes bright, and he nuzzled her again, locking their tails together.
