Lilacpaw, Rainpaw and Featherpaw's Mentor Reassignments

"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the willow branch for a Clan meeting!"

It was still strange to think that Duskfall, of all cats, had found Mistfeather's lost kits. Duskfall, Spottedstar's deputy. Duskfall, one of the cats Fishstar had despised so bitterly for so long. It was an ironic twist of fate. Nonetheless, she was happy that Mistfeather's lost kits had been found.

Little did Fishstar know, this was their second apprentice ceremony.

Featherpaw stalked across the clearing to sit beneath the willow tree, she knew exactly what this ceremony was about. Robinflight had been her mentor in ThunderClan, her father's own apprentice, she'd known of the warrior and had seen her around a lot as a kit. But now, here, she would be given to some stranger to teach her, a warrior who's name she probably didn't even know. It irked her, but she kept her jaws shut, looking up to Fishstar with her sea green eyes.

Rainpaw padded up behind his sister, shooting her quick glance of annoyance and frustration. Though his hatred for ThunderClan began the instant his father left, he hated the idea of being trained by RiverClan even more. They were stupid fishfaces. But he could not deny that he did not feel some sort of connection to the water, despite the struggle it took to relearn how to swim.

Shaking some snow from his light fur, he turned his attention to his aunt. Hopefully his new mentor wasn't mouse-brained and timid.

"Rainpaw, Featherpaw, please step forward." She beckoned them towards the willow branch with a flick of her tail.

Rainpaw took a step forward, quickly glancing at Featherpaw once again. This was the only way he would get stronger. He was sure if it.

Featherpaw quietly stepped forward next to her brother, she was uncomfortable with all these unfamiliar cat's staring at them. It didn't help their scents still screamed enemy to her, rather than friend.

Fishstar cleared her throat. "It is to my knowledge that you two, though you did not grow up with us, are of apprentice age. You are my sister's kits, however, and I welcome you both wholeheartedly into our ranks. From this day forth, until you receive your warrior names, you shall be known as Ivypaw and Rainpaw. Ivypaw, Ashcloud will mentor you, and Rainpaw, Firestream will mentor you. I am sure they will shape you into fine warriors."

Ivypaw, huh. The newly named apprentice dipped her head in respect, accepting this new foreign name that had been bestowed upon her by Fishstar. The new name sat on her tongue uncomfortably, it felt too much like she'd just severed her last tie to her home clan, but this was how it had to be. Spottedstar wouldn't take them now, not that she even wanted that, her only hope of being a true clan cat was with these fishfaces now. She hoped that her father would be proud, she would become a warrior and take vengeance. Whatever the cost.

With the ceremony done, she quickly brushed by her brother, taking in his familiar scent and affectionately nuzzling him once to reaffirm she wasn't alone before approaching her new mentor, and 'father'. "I guess you'll be teaching me then? I'll say this now, I don't know how to swim. I'm RiverClan only in name."
