A Bear and a Mottle [Closed]

Mottleclaw was out in the territory. The moon was high, and the night was silent except for the occasional croaking of a frog. The new warrior was out with another warrior. Who in fact came back from being missing a while ago. It was nice to be out with a warrior of more experience. Though he didn't exactly know what to say to the senior warrior.

Bearmask's tail twitched as she followed after Mottleclaw, her soft eyes flickering as she glanced at the newer warrior with a nervous glance. She was never good at talking to others - she had a very shy nature to her - but she barely knew a thing about this warrior...She had trouble talking to those she did know! A soft huff escaped her as her eyes darted away, her ears flicking at the sound of the croaking of the frog. Her father had paired the two of them up for hunting, so she supposed they might as well get onto to that. So, she cleared her throat slightly as she turned her gaze back to the black and white warrior. "So...S-shall we get to hunting?" she said in a soft voice, but firm as she watched Mottleclaw.

"Yeah. There should be plenty of frogs about seeing how they won't stop making noises." Mottleclaw said. Even the it was leaf-green, the night time still made the area cool, and easy on the warriors. There was plenty of prey out. The new warrior could smell it.

A soft smile graced the she-cat's face as she swished her fluffy tail. "That is true," she said in a low tone as she dipped her head, before opening her mouth just slightly to taste the air around her. Unsurprisingly, the scent of frogs filled her mouth causing her to grin as she glanced at her adopted son (cause neither of us forgot that was a thing). "Well, I...Suppose we should get to work. Can't let all of these frogs go to waste."

Mottleclaw nodded, and wondered away from the older warrior who happened to be his mother in a way. He followed the scent of the nearest frog. It took him a bit to find it, but it was happily sitting on the edge of a puddle. The new warrior crouched down, and scouted closer to the frog without making a noise. Finally he sprung forward landing on the frog, and killing it in a swift blow. Carefully he moved the frog slightly, and the buried it cause he knew they would move away from this area soon.

As Mottleclaw went his own way, Bearmask turned and headed the opposite way to avoid them attempting to catch the same frog or something silly like that. Also they would be covering more ground - which meant more prey - which was good. Following her own scent, she silently shifted though the shadows which was a feat with her large fluffy fur but she had taken moons learning how to move exactly though the swampy land without a sound.

Soon, she saw her target. It wasn't a frog, but a dirty brown colored toad. She grimaced slightly, preferring frogs over their slight counterpart, but prey was prey and warriors couldn't be choosers. It would have to do for now. Dropping into a crouch, she moved along the ground as silently as a snake, her breath held and her tail barely moving as she pulled herself forward paw step after paw step. Finally, when she found the distance good, she pushed off on her back paws and lunged forward and quickly ended the toad's life. Soon after burying it in a place so she could return for it later, she headed off to find more prey.

He needed to find something else. He already caught one piece of prey, and Bearmask probably already caught one too. The warrior paused for a second, and opened his mouth to get a good scent of any prey that might be around him. Hmm... There was a mouse in the area.. Following the scent, he soon arrived to the area to see the mouse shuffling in some grass. The new warrior got low to the ground but keeping his tail off the ground so that way it didn't disturb anything to startle the mouse. Once he was close enough the warrior sprang, and killed the mouse in a swift blow.

As the scent of another animal - this time a frog for sure - the warrior smiled softly as she quietly made her way though the swampy land. Soon, she spotted a frog sitting on a fallen tree truck, croaking softly. How ribbeting. She paused. Where the hell did that come from? Eh, whatever. Crouching down, she pulled herself forward before coming to a stop to prepare for her jump. Her tail remained as still as it could be as she shook her haunch before she pushed herself forward into another leap.

The frog let out a small ribbet as it bounced away, having spotted the warrior. Bearmask let out a soft sigh as she landed on the the fallen truck, her claws digging into the spot where the frog was to keep herself from falling off. Unhappy that the frog got away, she hopped to the ground once more before stalking off to find more prey. As a warrior, it was her job to feed her Clan and to fight for them...She didn't like the fighting part, so hunting was the best thing she was good at. So she wanted to return with some good pieces of prey...At least she had Mottleclaw to help with that. That tom had been a blessing into her life, helping her recover from the lost of her other adopted kit Cloudlydawn.

A mouse would be a good treat for the queens or the elders. They did tend to eat frogs, and lizards a bit more than other things, but Mottleclaw was sure it would be a little bit of a treat anyway. He buried the mouse, and continued on.

The warrior searched around for a bit, and found another frog. While he was doing really well stalking it he had managed to step on a small twig he couldn't see, and startle the frog into a small pound. He let out a small growl. Hopefully Bearmask was having more luck than he was.
