~TIME SKIP~

Flamestripe heaved himself up from the rock of Sunningrocks. His muscles were aching, and his throat was sore from swallowing river water. Hatred of Specklestream was his first feeling. He snarled at no one in particular, though he was thinking of that wretched fish-infested cat.

Despite his killing muscles, he padded back to the RiverClan border, and looked down the slope to see Specklestream still there. Though Flamestripe hated her now, wistfulness clouded his thoughts as he remembered how they had snuck out at night to see each other. No matter how much he disliked Specklestream now, he couldn't help but miss those times.

"Specklestream?" Flamestripe called. He wanted to apologize, though he knew he couldn't do that to an enemy cat that had crossed the border.

Flamestripe shook his head. "No, Specklestream. I can't fight you again, only if the two of our Clans fight. Listen and listen good: I still have feelings for you." Then he turned around and pelted back to camp, not daring to look back.
