December Gathering 2014

The crunching of snow under paws was the only break in the icy stillness.

Icicles hung from near-naked branches, and every breath of wind felt like it pierced right through you, fur and skin and all, straight to the bone. The Great Rock thrust out from a thin blanket of snow like a jagged stone fist, sparkling like a diamond.

Spottedstar snorted as a tiny clump of snow fell on her nose. As she gazed at the clearing, she saw no others, and flicked her. She slowly made her way down the slope, easing her way to the Great Rock before looking at her paw holds. Calculating where to go, she made it up gracefully, digging snow away from a spot and she sat on her haunches.

Flameclaw followed her leader into the gathering, carefully treading in the snow on the way down the slope. The deputy didn't want to slip. When the orange cat finally found her spot below the rock she cleared away the snow around her spot with a few paw swipes so she didn't have to sit on the cold snow. She shook the snow of her pelt before sitting down waiting for the gathering to start.

With a slight grunt, Sunstar walked into the clearing, landing on his paws lightly from a tiny jump from a root. Seeing only ThunderClan there he rolled his eyes, leading the rest of the Clan in to the area before he took a few quick bounds and found himself at the top of the Great Rock. Once beside the other leader, he tipped his head in a polite greeting to the other leader. Then he kept his eyes peeled for the other Clans.

Dapplepelt followed after Spottedstar, entering the gathering area. He looked around and noticed that Sunstar had come, and Riverclan was following after. Taking a spot near the Great Rock, he sat and waited until someone approached hi,.
Fawnleap walked after Sunstar, gaze flickering from leader to leader, warrior to warrior. Sighing, she took a seat in the back.

Breezefeather limped into the clearing, which only had a few cats mingling inside it, and searched for her mossy spot where she always sat at gatherings. After prodding the loose green lichen she rested her haunches upon the springy pile and shifted her leg so it poked out at a comfortable angle and then sniffed as she gazed at the Great Rock, which gleamed in the moon light.

Another cat emerged from the wilting fronds of fern that lined the clearing, and was soon sitting near the other RiverClan warrior that was sitting at the back. "I wonder what news the other Clans bear." Rippletail grunted as he shifted in his cold seat, wrapping his long tail around his paws in an attempt to warm them up.

FeatherPool stretched and trotted into the clearing after SpottedStar hopefully no trouble would be caused while leaf-bare hung in the air. Looking around she spotted a RiverClan warrior (RippleTail) she walked towards him and said. "Hello there. I'm FeatherPool." She bowed her head a bit.

TigerTail looked around and walked in the circle of trees they had missed the last gathering so that was good for her no news could have traveled fast, but at the same time it was bad she could have no news weither a clan was weak. She then sat down in the middle of the clearing and waited for the gathering to begin.

Fawnleap nodded. "Yes I wonder.. " Noticing Featherpool talk to him she said hello, just incase anyone wanted to start a conversation.

Morningpaw trotted into the clearing, her gaze flicking around her as she stared at the cats that were already in the clearing. She was quick to move to the spot where the medicine cats sat, before taking her own spot as she watched the warriors start to talk with each other. Her tail flickered, bushing some of the snow away from her. Her fur fluffed up to defend herself against the icy winds, lowering her head as she shivered slightly. She had hoped the weather would be at least nicer for a gathering, but she was sure that if they spent to long in Fourtrees, they would freeze to death. She glanced at the trees that surrounded the clearing, hoping that the other Clans would soon arrive as only RiverClan and ThunderClan were here so far. "Please let them come soon..." she muttered under her breath with a shake of her head. "I want this gathering to be over with as soon as possible with this freezing winds upon us."

Ryefur grimmenced as he padded though the snow, pausing every one in a while to try to shake it off of his paws. He knew it was useless; his paws were only going to return back into the snow but he disliked it. While it might be frozen water, it was freezing and not even his sleek fur could defend himself from icy winds. He sighed to himself, wishing he had more fluffy fur so the bitterness of the winds wouldn't be so bad but that wouldn't happen. He moved into a spot in the middle of the gathering before sitting down. Hopefully when enough cats got here, this spot would be safe from the winds. Perhaps a bit selfish, but he didn't exactly care.  He was shaking his fur off at this point!

The RiverClan deputy strode after her leader, silently cursing every time her paws made contact with the snow. Fishpelt had always held a special resentment for winter. There wasn't any particular reason, but rather a few petty reasons. These included: Snow always getting caught in her fur in clumps, which seemed to take ages to thaw or lick out, her paw and leg fur freezing after going fishing in the river, and the prey being especially hard to catch.

Fishpelt glanced up at the large white disk in the sky and sighed, putting her bitterness aside. The Gathering meant peace, and the last thing anyone needed now was a deputy grouchy about the snow.

Leafbare was honestly nothing but amusement to Breezestar. Their clan was indeed an interesting mix, and made for varying reaction when it came to the cold, bitter winds.
There were those - like him - who spent the cold nights strangely more happily than others. In their lives before, leaf-bare was the most hopeless season. If you couldn't snag that piece of prey, there was absolutely no chance for you. Here, together though, there was hope - and some comfort and pride of sharing what they had; huddling together in their dens, bringing warmth to one another. The leader himself would sleep in the nursery or the warriors den instead of his own to keep the company of his clanmates.
Some cats, mostly kittypets, didn't openly complain about the cold weather - but it was easy to see how it ruffled them; and it was fun to tease them lightly even more then. They were the most determined to get through the season, though, that much was obvious.

He could only wonder how the rest of the clans fared, shaking a dusty coat of snow off his pelt and leading SkyClan into the clearing. "Lets go," He meowed. After leading them in, he shot several cats a warm smile before leaping up onto the freezing Great Rock.

Rockfall padded after Breezestar into the clearing, a chill ran up his paws every now and then but he didn't want to complain. The deputy kept his muzzle tight and wore a forced smile as he passed by the other clans, though Rockfall's tail began to twitch impatiently as the deputy noted that Riverclan and Thunderclan were the only ones there, so where was Windclan and Shadowclan? Rockfall blinked as he sat down next to the other deputies, trying to find his inner patience knowing that this gathering was going to be long cold and hard.

Leafdapple followed her clan into the clearing of the gathering, the young warriors bright green eyes looked around the clearing with intrest. Many clans feared leaf-bare because it brought a terrible sickness with it and their were shortages of prey, but as long as the clan works together their shouldn't be anything to be worried about, besides Leafdapple was in love with how beautiful leaf-bare was.

Daisypaw enjoyed the sound of the snow crunching underneath her paws it brought back good memories of her old home where her and her two-legs children would play happily in the snow but her two-legs had to leave her behind since they were moving to another country and unfortunately her new two-legs weren't that kind to her. The cold also didn't really get to Daisypaw as she had a thicker pelt then other cats. There weren't a whole lot of Apprentices in Skyclan only her Fallenpaw and Smokepaw so she had hoped that she would be able to find out more of the clans by talking to the apprentices,  the apprentice quickly sat down in the clearing as she also looked for more cats that could be possible apprentices.

Fallenpaws padded next to Daisypaw a new apprentice just like her and this gathering was both going to be both of their first ones! Fallenpaws brother whitekit still hadn't been made an apprentice yet,  she didn't know why but she was curious about it, but in the end it was probably because it's Leaf-bare and Leaf-Bare was always chaitoc to all clans at least that's what she remembered Lilyclaw ttelling her that. Her thoughts stopped as she noticed that Daisypaw was already sitting down, before anyone noticed Fallenpaw sat down as well but the cold snow had sent shivers up her spine. Oh starclan, this was going to be a long gathering.

Falconstar led his clan into the Gathering, no visible emotion present on his face. Due to his rather fluffy fur, he didn't feel the cold as much as others, and didn't really mind heading out into such weather. Rather, it just felt like every Gathering had underlying tension that wasn't truly going to thaw, and it wasn't a meeting he was excited for every moon. Regardless, he brought his clan into the clearing and swiftly clambered up the Great Rock, nodding to the other leaders in turn. Looked like everyone was here.

CloudPatches followed after his leader. This would be his first gathering as a medicine cat. He was excited yet scared most likely he would be announced through the clans. Hopefully he would be accepted.

Lightningstrike padded into the clearing and took a seat alone in the back, blending into the shadows. He grumbled, hissing as a cold wind bit into him.

Ghostpaw leaped around the other cats, grinning. He didn't mind the cold because of his long fur, and the snow was fun to play in. After all, you have to have something fun to do in Leafbare. He trotted over to a patch of snow and took a seat, not minding the cold.

Rainstreak looked around and made her way to a RiverClan tom. "Hello, Rippleclaw." she dipped her head politely, though they were in the same Clan. She had walked at the back, enjoying the scenery. She took a seat next to her brother and smiled, staring up at the four leaders.

Fangtooth cuddled up against a tree, her teeth chattering rather loudly. "U-Ugh! I-I h-hate Le-Leafbare!" she growled, wrapping her tail tighter around herself.
