Trouble...

Snowkit walked towards the river. She widened her eyes at the sight of the beautiful sight. Wow, this is beautiful! I'm going to go in it! I want to swim like a fish. There was one problem though-- she didn't know how to swim. The pretty silver kit jumped in the river. She began move her legs in the water. The river was too strong for a kit who didn't know how to swim. Snowkit began to feel the danger because of the water pushing her hard and fast up north. "Help! Someone help me!" The little kit meowed a little loud as she moved with the water.

Shallowpaw heard a kit's cry. He darted toward the river and scanned it for the kit. Sure enough, he found a small black and silver kit getting swept away by the current. Shallowpaw recognized Snowkit. "Snowkit! It's okay! I'll help you!" He yowled.

Just in the kit's luck, Sunfur had been close while hunting on this day and heard the yell. Immediately his golden ears perked and he took off in that direction, his powerful legs propelling him forward. Once he saw Shallowpaw he yowled, "Where is the kit?!" But he didn't wait for a reply. The deputy locked his eyes on Snowkit like she was a target and launched himself into the cold water. With powerful strides he swam, fighting the current and managed to catch her scruff in his jaws. Lifting her out of the water gently, he pushed himself to attempt to give her to Shallowpaw on the shore.

Shallowpaw stretched his neck and locked his jaws onto Snowkit's scruff. Pulling her back on shore, he sighed. Snowkit was lucky that Sunfur and I were here. Shallowpaw set her down and looked at her seriously. "What were you doing, that close to the river? Aren't you supposed to be in camp?" he meowed.

Snowkit slowly got up and shook water off of her fur. "I-I thought-- She couldn't speak anymore and looked down.

Shallowpaw's gaze softened. "It's alright. Just don't do it again!" he meowed.

Snowkit looked at Shallowpaw again before she nodded and looked back down. I need to learn how to swim! The river... intrigues me.

Shallowpaw sensed something and looked at Snowkit. "You want to learn how to swim, don't you?" he asked, guessing that's what was going through her mind.

Snowkit nodded her head and looked down again. She isn't good at socializing with others-- she never was.

Shallowpaw smiled and ruffled her fur with the tip of his tail. "Patience." he meowed. "You'll learn soon enough. You'll be an apprentice soon enough. I'll show you, though." the tabby meowed. He stood on the edge of the river, and slid in. After that, he used his strong muscles to push him the opposite direction the current went. Turning around, he paddled back and climbed up on the bank. Shallowpaw shook his pelt off and looked at Snowkit. "There. Did you see?" he asked.

Snowkit lifted her head and smiled slightly at Shallowpaw's skill in the river. When he asked her if she saw him, she nodded her head. The pretty silver kit stared at the river.

"Good!" he smiled at the kit. "Do you want to try in the stream that runs just outside of camp?" Shallowpaw asked, thinking of something easier to try swimming in. He could see that she obviously was desperate to learn to swim.

Snowkit's mood went up to the thought of swimming. "Yes please!" This is the first time she didn't stumble over her words.

Shallowpaw chuckled at the kit's excitement. "Alright." he purred. When they got there, he sat down at the stream and waited for Snowkit. "Can you remember what I showed you? If not, I'll teach you some stuff," he meowed, smiling at the thought of teaching a cat to swim.

Snowkit followed at his heels. "You're going to have to show me again..." She said in embarrassment.
