Asterkit, Deerkit, and Graykit's Ceremony

Falconstar jumped to the top of the Tallrock and called out to his clan, "All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Tallrock for a clan meeting!"

Deerkit smoothed down the last of her fur and padded out of the nursery. She hesitated a moment before she took a seat near the middle where the crowd would gather

Adderfang padded out, and curled his tail around his paws, sitting down. Giving a large yawn, he watched the leader from sleepy eyes. "What's going on?" he murmured, still bleary from sleep. "A ceremony? Oh .. that's cool."

Graykit followed the kits out of the nursery

Asterkit was practically bouncing out of her fur. "What's going on?" She purred, curious. Her sister was there...and Greykit. As well as lots of the bigger cats of the clan. She felt so grown up, just sitting there.

"So...what's going on?" She asked, hopping over to her sister's side? "Is it an attack? I'm ready to defend the nursery if it's an attack!"

"We are becoming apprentices!" Graykit said to her.

Immediately, Asterkit perked up. "Really?" She yelped. "It's our turn....Deerkit it's finally our turn!" Jumping on the spot, she had quite forgotten this was supposed to be an important, solemn occasion - a milestone in her short life.

"Yes! We're finally gonna be 'prentices! I'm gonna go right out and catch the biggest old rabbit I can find!"

The she cat flicked her ear,looking over "Shh..the ceremony is going to start soon!" And turned her gaze back to Falconstar

How could her sister possibly be so calm about this? How could she just...just sit there all quiet like and wait for the leader to actually call them up and over. Asterkit felt like she could jump to Starclan she was so antsy and nervous and excited and...everything! She was feeling all those things at once and even more because they were finally gonna be made 'apprentices!

"Don't 'shh' me." She scolded, or tried to - she was too happy to put even the vaguest sense of anger into her hiss. "We don't need to be quiet today. We're gonna be 'prentices! We're never gonna have to be quiet again!"

As the clan gathered around, Falconstar looked down at the kits and smiled as he began. "Asterkit, Deerkit, Graykit: it is time for you three to become apprentices. From now on, you will be known as Asterpaw, Deerpaw, and Graypaw. Asterpaw, your mentor will be Thornclaw. Deerpaw, yours will be Silverfang. And Graypaw, yours will be Foxclaw."

Asterkit, no...Asterpaw now, felt as if her heart were about ready to beat it's way out of her own chest. She was an Apprentice! She was going to help her clan in SO many ways - and she had an actual mentor to work with too! She had never felt so grown up before!

"I, er...I'm sure we won't let you down, Falconstar!" She purred, fluffing out her fur pridefully.
