Heronkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather for a Clan meeting!" Reedstar yowled from his perch in the center of camp. The apprentice den is getting crowded... Hopefully they're warriors before long.

Hmm...Again? Heronkit blinked sleepily from his spot just inside the Nursery. He had just made the perfect little dent in which to hunker down in. But - you didn't ignore a summons from Reedstar. Especially not from Reedstar.

Wait a second...this had to be it!

Arching languidly, Heronkit stumbled out into the sunny camp, a spring that hadn't been present before in his step suddenly there. Remembering what his mum had told him, he absently licked one of his paws and tried to swipe it over his ear, smoothing out the fur. Starclan...it was certainly a lot easier when she did it for him!

Icepaw padded over to Heronkit. "Do you want me to help you with your grooming?" She asked nonchalantly.

But there was no time. Reedstar had already begun. "Heronkit, come forward," he called. Once he had, Reedstar launched into the words of the ceremony. "You have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Heronpaw. Your mentor will be Mistyflower. I hope she will pass down all she knows on to you."

Finishing the awkward swipe over his ear, he was about to try the other side when he was approached by Icepaw. "Sure, if your - " He was about to say 'quick', but he was interrupted by the leader. No time; now was the moment.

Stepping forward, Heronkit...no, Heronpaw couldn't help but puff out his chest a little bit. Finally - he was going to get to train, to give back to his clan. He was certain Mistyflower was going to be the best mentor in the whole wide Riverclan, too! "Thank you!" He mrowed.
