Icepaw's hunt

Sleetfang waited at the entrence of camp. She had let Icepaw take a quick break before they went out hunting.

Icepaw padded out towards Sleetfang, "K, lets go hunt."

Sleetfang got to her paws and lead Icepaw deeper into the territory. She haulted, "Watch closly. Im going to show you how to do it." With that she turned back to the bush they had haulted in front of. A small but plump sparrow sat on the ground and broke away at some twigs in hope to fand a nut. She lowered herself onto her haunches looking back to make sure Icepaw was watching. Creeping forward she sliped under the bush and easly cleared it with out making a sound. She sprang, pinning it under her paws she quickly killed it thanking Starclan for its life.

Icepaw sat there looking at Sleetfang, and analized the way she stalked the sparrow and killed it. She looked around for something she could practice on before actually trying it.

Insted of a practice object Sleetfang found a small mouse. "There," She pointed her tail in its direction. It was a small and skiny thing so if she missed it would be made up for later.

Icepaw glanced nervously at Sleetfang then at the mouse. Lowering herself like Sleetfang did she looked at her questioning if she was going it correctly.

Sleetfang looked thoughtfully at Icepaw for awhile. She used her nose to nudge Icepaw a little so her weight would be centered. She also used her paw to make Icepaw's tail stop moving. "Now when hunting mice, voles or any other rodent keep your pawsteps as light as posible. They'll hear you before they see you."

Icepaw shuffled into place and crept forward. She came close, so close that she felt that she was invisable. On the last paw-step before she was to spring at her prey she acidently bumped a twig causing a near-by bush to shudder. The mouse fled. Scampering into a hole under the leaves.

Sleetfang shook her head, "That was a good try. Watch your step a little more and don't have your paws land so heavily on the ground and next time I'm sure you'll get it."

Icepaw wasn't so sure, she had missed this once so why couldn't she miss every time? "I don't think I'll be able to get it next time...."

"Well the only way to find out is to try and see." Sleetfang mewed taping her tail on Icepaw's sholder blades.

Icepaw nodded noticing a frog a little way off. "There, I'll try to get that one." She mewed get into position and stalking forward.

Sleetfang sat and watched Icepaw stalk the frog.

Icepaw drew closer and sprang nearly missing it again she twisted and caught it killing it quickly.

Sleetfang sprang to her paws, "Well done!" She purred.

She caught afew more prey before she called Icepaw to return to camp
