Beepaw's Assessment

Mapleclaw sat outside of the camp, her tail wrapped around her paws as she waited for Beepaw. She had just told the apprentice that they were doing something today, but not what they were going to do. She wanted to keep it a surprise that it was time for Beepaw's Assessment.

Beepaw was alert and ready for anything as he left the camp to see what Mapleclaw had planned for him. He dipped his head in greeting to his mentor before mewing, "So, what's in mind for today?"

Occ: I was going to make a new one...But this one isn't dead yet! (I mean, three more days until it would of been but...Eh) And how about we just claim that you finished your battle practice, hm?

Ic: Mapleclaw grinned as she saw her apprentice, nodding her head slightly toward the territory before starting her way into the reed-covered landscape. She cleared her throat as she walked, her gaze staying fix infront of her. "Today we are doing your assessment. The rules are simple. Catch three pieces of prey before sundown and return to me." She paused, glancing around the territory from the clearing they were in. "This is where we shall meet. If you think you see somebody following you as you go, don't worry. That would will be me. Just keep going and act like nothing happened..." After a few moments to let her words sink in, she spun to face the apprentice and nodded her head once. "Go."

ooc: Fine by me, at this point I just want to get it done xD

bic: Beepaw nodded. An assessment was just what he needed to show how well he was doing. "I'll do my best" he mewed before setting off, heading straight for the river. It wasn't too long until he caught the scent of a shrew. Might as well he thought, though he knew he was better at fishing. Going through the motions, he went slowly but surely. He timed it almost perfectly, killing the shrew with ease. He buried his prey after sending a quick thanks to Starclan, placing a nearby stick to mark his spot. He glanced up at the sun. Plenty of time left. He continued on, catching the scent of a mouse this time. He used the same technique, but hesitated too long, allowing the mouse to escape. He flicked his tail in irritation, but didn't let the loss shake him.

Soon, Beepaw was at the riverside. Finally, he could show off his fishing skills. Staring at the water, he waited until just the right time to flash out his claws and pull out a fish. He killed the scaly creature swiftly, then climbed up the bank to bury it safely. It was then that a water vole scampered straight across his path. The apprentice had no time to hesitate, leaping and killing the vole in a moment. He then collected the fish and went back to find his shrew. After collecting his third piece of prey, Beepaw padded back to the clearing he'd last seen Mapleclaw at. He looked up at the sky, noticing it would be sundown soon. Just in time.

Mapleclaw stepped from the shadows, a grin on her face. "Very good!" she said with a small nod, glancing over her apprentice and the three pieces of prey he had gathered. After a few moments of silence, she glanced up at the setting done. "We should head back soon. I'll speak to Reedstar about your warrior ceremony, hm? It is long over due, my apprentice." She stepped forward and took the mouse and the water vole in her jaw, leaving Beepaw to carry the fish himself. Nodding her head toward the camp, she started to walk, not looking back to make sure that Beepaw was following.
