Mass Battle Training 2.0

Mapleclaw padded into the main clearing that was used for battle training with a smile, glancing around. Yes, this would be perfect. With all of the apprentices that RiverClan now had, she felt that the mentors needed a break. She recalled Reedstar doing a few of these 'mass battle training' when he was still a warrior, and so she felt like the duty to create these mass battle training fell to her now that she was deputy and that Reedstar was busy being leader. Her tail flickered as she came to a stop, glancing around. Hopefully the apprentices would get here soon so that they could start right away.

Leafstream walked up to the deputy, and dipped her head respectfully. "Mind if I help, Mapleclaw?" She asked, trying to help out her clan. She had her own apprentice that needed to be battle trained, and she also wanted to help with the others, just to bond with her clan more. The young warrior felt it would help strengthen relationships within her clan, and that it would be good to see it happen from a warriors' point of view, as she had done this when she was an apprentice, and turned out pretty successful. "If not, is it alright if I watch? I think it would be amusing to watch the apprentices learn to fight." Leafstream had heard about the deputy taking the apprentices out for a battle training exercise, and she wanted to help as much as she could. It was part of being a clan, correct?

Silverpaw followed behind Laefstream respectfully, dipping her head to the deputy as well. She sat down a few feet away, trying to show respect for the deputy that was going to teach her how to fight. The thing was, though, was that Silverpaw was against bloodshed, and wanted the minimal amount gone from Riverclan as possible, but she knew that they would have to fight to protect the precious borders of the clan. It wasn't likely of that Silverpaw knew that blood would be shed throughout the swimming clans' borders, since they were the only cats in the forest who liked to swim, much less get their paws wet. The only place the silver apprentice knew that blood was most likely to be shed was at Sunningrocks; where Thunderclan often fought for the warm piece of land that held prey. Her green eyes turned from the distance to the deputy; awaiting on what would happen.

Beepaw took his time on his way to the clearing. He would much rather spend his time hunting, but he knew Mapleclaw would make him do battle training anyway, so he went. Arriving at the clearing, he saw another warrior, Leafstream, and an older apprentice, Silverpaw, already there. He decided to wait at the edge for a minute, at least until other apprentices showed up.

Hazelpaw sat nervously at the edge of the clearing. She waited for others to join first and saw Beepaw doing the same.

Ic: Mapleclaw flickered her tail at Leafstream with a nod. "Feel free to help," she said as she then turned her gaze to the apprentices that had gathered. She cleared her throat, walking forward as she eyes every single one of them in a turn. "Thank you for all joining me here. Today we are doing battle training, and it is to my understanding that none of you have gotten any. Now we are going to pair up...Hazelpaw, why don't you pair up with Silverpaw and Beepaw, how about you take Leafstream as your partner for the training session?"

The brown deputy frowned as she glanced at the cats, sighing slightly. She would of liked if Beepaw could of been paired up with another apprentice, but this would have to work. She turned and headed toward the middle of the clearing as she waited for them to get together, running what she was going to say in her head.

Beepaw blinked in surprise. Why'd he have to be paired with the warrior? Oh well, it didn't matter. Rising to his paws, he accepted the fact that he wouldn't be able to simply observe to learn, and padded over to the Leafstream. He dipped his head in a respectful greeting and waited to be told what to do.

Leafstream sat down with Beepaw beside her, and nodded. She knew that the young apprentice certainly had respect for cats who were older, and that were in greater ranks. But, the warrior knew she would have a great time with the apprentice, as it would be interesting and she could use it to help train her future apprentices.

Silverpaw however, was slightly panicked. With her jaw shut tight, she nervously went and met up wit Hazelpaw, a nervous look in her eyes. She surely wouldn't be known for fighting, as it would be her fear, oddly enough.

Littlepaw strolled up, his blue eyes shining with excitement.

Frogpaw stumbled into the clearing. "Stupid clumsy feet..." he muttered as he climbed back upright

Mapleclaw watched the two new comers with a small smile, before flicking her tail at the two. "Littlepaw, Frogpaw, because you are both late; I am pairing you up together. Now, lets get this started." She cleared her throat, before scanning over the group of apprentices. "The first move we are going to be learning today is the Front Paw Blow. It is a simple move; just strike your enemy with your paw as hard as you can; but with always a sleath paw. Because of that, this move isn't used in battle much. However, Front Paw Strike is a form of Front Paw Blow; where your strike with your claws out. However, because this is only training, I want you guys to use Front Paw Blow on your partner."

Beepaw listened to his mentor intently.  Most kits already knew the front paw blow from playing.  Beepaw, however, hadn't played much as a kit, so this was new-ish to him. Getting into a position for battling his warrior-partner, he swiped his paw, but didn't hit her; he was just trying to get a feel for it.  "Like this?" he asked Leafstream, hoping he had the form down, though he probably looked ridiculous swiping at the air.

Leafstream nodded in approval. Flicking her tail, she noted how his paw had taken a slow swipe. "Exactly. I like your form, but try it quicker, like this." Taking a step back, the warrior swiped her paw across the air, her move quick, and clean.
