Goldkit's Apprentice Ceremony

Dewclaw leaped onto Highrock, her short fur fluffing up as much as it could in the cold wind. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey join here beneath the Highrock for a Clan meeting!" She called strongly, waiting for the clan to gather.

Looking up from the squirrel she'd been nibbling at, Feathertail swished her wispy tail across the cold earth. Staggering to her paws, she padded to the high rock and looked up at her old mentor, a distant look in her eyes.

Goldkit padded up to the big rock and sat at the base he was going to be apprenticed.

Seeing Goldkit had already prepared himself, Dewclaw jumped right into the ceremony. "Goldkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. Until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Goldpaw. Spottedfeather, you are young and have just become a warrior, but you are strong and dedicated. I trust you will pass on your exceptional skills to Goldpaw as his mentor." She knew it was risky to have such a young cat teach another young cat, but she had faith that the warrior would do well.

"Goldpaw, Spottedfeather! Goldpaw, Spottedfeather!" though the silver she-cat was cheering, her voice was lifeless and cold.

Spottedfeather nodded, even though on the inside she was bursting with excitement, and anxiety. This was her first apprentice. She hoped she would do well. She was going to try her hardest and train Goldpaw to the best of her ability. She touched noses with the new apprentice. "How does it feel? To become a new apprentice?" she asked her apprentice. She knew it must have felt good. It felt great for her.

Goldpaw touched noses with spottedfeather "good, it feels good to be out of the nursery."
