Battle Training Day (Anyone Who Needs it Join c:)

Sagestar waited outside the clearing by the old, burnt sycamore - flicking his tail and waiting a bit impatiently for the clan's apprentices. Today, they'd be learning how to fight, one of the most critical skills for warriors - and for ShadowClan especially.

Shadepaw raced over to where Sagestar was waiting, hoping to be the first to Battle Training. He was glad to see he was right, as no one else had arrived yet besides the leader himself. First and on time! He thought with a purr of satisfaction, sitting his rump down by the sycamore as he waited for instruction of some sort.

Nightpaw came dashing from the apprentice den; grinning like a mad-cat. She couldn't wait for today's lesson! She slid to a stop next to Shadepaw; her tail flicking. "Ready for training, Sagestar!"

Smokepaw, who was running behind the others couldn't stop in time to slid in right next to Nightpaw. Instead she ended up running in to her friend. After regaining her balance she sat next to Night paw and looked up at the leader. She hoped to impress the leader.

Nightpaw let out a small gasp when Smokepaw ran into her, but with a small smile flashed at her friend, the young silver tabby sat back down, her ears flickering as she waited for Sagestar to speak.

okay, sorry, i was waiting on mossy. lets push our way through the basics then we can get to some systemless fun. xD

The tom flicked his ear, watching the apprentices rush into the clearing. "Where's Darkpaw?" He meowed in question, then shook his head. If she was late, then she could join later, though she'd certainly be cleaning out the elders dens for the next few days in light of her tardiness. "Nevermind."
He stood up, "Today, we start what might be the most important aspect of your training." Sagestar said, "ShadowClan are known for being the fiercest in battle, and its up to you to hold up that reputation."

"We'll start with the basics. Keep your claws sheathed." They were beginners. They didn't need to be mistakenly clawing someone's ear off. He got into a basic battle stance to show them, "Your weight should be even, that way you have room to move easily, but are harder to budge." The gray tabby motioned for Smokepaw to come forward. "And when the moment is right -" He flashed a paw out and batted the fluffy apprentice on the shoulder. "See that? Shadepaw and Nightpaw, try it on each other." He ordered, "Smokepaw, try to hit me."

Sagestar used 'Front Paw Strike' on Smokepaw, dealing 0 damage and using 10 stamina.

Smokepaw flinched as the leader hit her shoulder, but she looked at the leader for a moment, before taking the stance she was shown. She took a moment to get the stance right making sure she could move easily, because the stance was important. She looked at Sagestar again for a moment giving the leader a blank, but weird stare before quickly looking down at the spot she was aiming for, and lashed out with her paw.

Nightpaw nodded, glancing at Shadepaw. Attack when the moment is right? She could do that. Without another word, she spun around to face her fighting partner. She stared at him for a quick moment, trying to figure out where to attack. Finally, her gaze landed on his shoulders and she lashed out with her paw, however she aimed a bit higher then her gaze and lightly whacked Shadepaw on the side of the head.

Shadepaw flicked an ear, a bit unsure about fighting Nightpaw. He kinda liked her, as a friend anyways. If only Darkpaw had been here...
...Actually, he was good fighting Nightpaw.

What he didn't expect was a blow to the head. Shaking his skull to get rid of the slight dizziness, the tom blinked in surprise. But, not wanting to let that distract him, he quickly got into position and lashed out as well, smacking Nightpaw in the leg, hoping to trip her. Not in a really mean way though...They were just training, right?

Sagestar took the small blow of Smokepaw's, but was still easily able to manuver out of her reach. "Don't stare at where you're going to strike." He scolded her with a frown, "You'll give away where you're aiming to hit and give me time to think of a way to outmaneuver! And don't stand there like a dumbstruck lizard either!" The leader straightened himself out, looking at the two other apprentices.
"Are you afraid of her, Shadepaw?" He called, "I thought you two were training to be warriors - not how to bat at the air!" The leader shook his head. This was training and they still had to keep their claws sheathed, but how would they ever learn to fight real battles if they were practicing like they were still kits in the nursery? They could at least throw a little effort in.

"There's only two other basics you need to learn to hold your self for now." He meowed, letting them bat at each other for a little longer before calling for their attention again. "The belly rake and the leap-and-hold."
Sagestar walked between Nightpaw and Shadepaw. "Leap-and-hold can be used in different ways, depending on the cat. Shadepaw, you could use your size to your advantage and easily pin a smaller cat down - while Nightpaw, you could get the upper-paw on a large cat like him by leaping on him and clinging to his back where he can't harm you." Although she would need to learn to watch and leap in case he even rolled over and squished her flat, but they'd both probably learn that quickly.

The other is something to always watch out for. The belly is the most sensitive part of the cats body. Its an easy way to harm and scare your opponent into a distance for if you strike just right, it could prove to be fatal." He didn't think he needed an example, "When you see an opportunity, strike and strike hard." The leader nodded, queing them to begin their practice again. He got down low and watched Smokepaw, ready to see what she'd try.

Nightpaw stumbled when Shadepaw hit her leg, able to stay upright. She soon frowned when Sagestar scolded them...she had thought they did a pretty good job. "Of course, Sagestar." Her tail flickered as she watched Shadepaw, now trying to pick what to do. Sagestar had pointed out that she could easily cling to Shadepaw's back, but she was unsure what to do...Finally, she got an idea. She suddenly jumped to the side of Shadepaw before quickly racing toward and rolling under him, hoping she caught him by surprise. As she rolled under the larger tom's belly, she lashed out with her paws, hitting him square on his belly, hard enough that it would sting but not enough to do a lot of damage before rolling out. She started to get on her paws, a grin on her face. Hopefully that would be good enough for Sagestar. She spun and turned to face Shadepaw, wondering what he would do her; she was ready for anything.

Nightpaw used Belly Rank on Shadepaw, dealing 0 damage and costing 10 stamina.

Shadepaw leaped away in surprise as he felt a small sting on his belly. Scared of Nightpaw? No way, and if she wasn't afraid to fight him, neither was he.
With a growl of determination, the large tom leaped forward, ducking down and headbutting her in the chest to knock the smaller cat forward. She may be sturdy on her legs, but he was still bigger, and he'd prove it! He leaped on her, trying to pin her and hold her there. He shook his clanmate before leaping away with a hiss.

Shadepaw used Leap-and-Hold on Nightpaw(-0HP & -10SP)

Smokepaw being the smaller cat decided to quickly jump to the side of Sagestar, and made it look like she was going for a leap and hold, but she gave a fake jump, and quickly dove under the leader, swiping her paws across the leader's stomach.
