Dawn Patrol [Open]

Ooc: Anyone may join the patrol, at a preferred maximum of 4 characters. Lionstar counts as one, and since this will also be Emerald's Border Patrol training topic, Opossumpaw will count as one as well. So basically, two other members may join if they wish x)
I only request you try to keep up, or we'll leave you behind after waiting a while for your character to post.

Ic: Birds chirped in the trees, small flower buds were beginning to spring out of the ground, and rain seemed to arrive more often. These were some small signs showing the arrival of New-Leaf, which neared closer and closer as days passed. The days, however, didn't get too much warmer just yet. But that was okay, since today seemed particularly warm.

It was just before Dawn, normally when the Dawn Patrol gets ready to head out. Lionstar was one of the first up, making his way quickly to the Apprentices' Den. His footsteps were silent, cautious of waking up the others who could use some more sleep. He gently nudged his newest apprentice, Opossumpaw, coaxing her gently to wake up but stay quiet. His voice was but a murmur, so the other apprentices wouldn't hear and awaken.

"Opossumpaw...Wake up."

Possumpaw woke with a start then remembered it was her first patrol!
"I'm ready! Who's else is coming?" she asked in a whisper.

"We'll see. Now let's leave the den so we don't wake the others." Lionstar meowed, padding out of the den.

Outside, the sky was growing bright quickly. By now, the Warriors should be waking up to see who's going on patrols and such. For a moment, Lionstar wondered if the others already had patrols planned, but surely his loyal deputy wouldn't forget about the Dawn Patrol, so he pushed the thought away.

Following her mentor out, Possumpaw squinted at the growing light. When she reached the center of the clearing she sat down and looked around camp.
"My first border patrol!" Possumpaw whispered, not caring if Lionstar heard. Her excitement was growing by the second.

Ooc: Last call for joining. We need to get this done.

Dewclaw padded over from the fresh-kill pile, seeing that Lionstar's intended patrol did not seem to be large enough. "I could join you, if you don't mind."

Lionstar looked over, nodding. "That would be wonderful, Dewclaw." He replied politely, then looking back to his apprentice. "I assume you'e ready to go? No slacking behind over every new sound you hear."

Ooc: Short post because I just got home and need to leave again -_-' I apologize and will be on later.

"Okay! Let's go!" Possumpaw answered, already heading for the tunnel.

Lionstar let out an amused huff, following after the spunky apprentice. "Alright now, keep quiet and alert. Pay attention to every sight and smell, as well as where you put your paws. We don't want to make a lot of noise, though it's not bad if another patrol were to smell us." He meowed, catching up rather quickly. "...And don't rush ahead!"

Possumpaw slowed down and let Lionstar lead her, since she had no idea where she was going and she wanted to learn all there was to learn about the territory.

ooc: should I post in at the Gathering?

Dewclaw took up the rear, watching the apprentice with amusement. Part of her hoped to see another patrol; a fight would not be welcomed, but she would love to watch Opossumpaw's reaction to another Clan.

Ooc: Yes, though it seems like you already have x)

Ic: Lionstar paused, tasting the air. "First, we'll head over to the Skyclan border, then SunningRocks." He meowed, taking the lead once again. The air was growing warmer by the day, which meant more prey for the Hunting Patrols but more distractions for the young apprentices. So far, however, Opossumpaw didn't seem to be noticing.

It wasn't long before a large, decaying oak tree log came into the patrol's view. They had arrived at the border with Skyclan, in which the Fallen Oak marked the line.
"Here we are. This is the Fallen Oak, which marks the border with Skyclan. Now, we may used to be allies with Skyclan, but the war is over and they are once again our rivals. Opossumpaw, I hope you've been paying attention to the path we took to get here, as it's one of the quicker ways." The Thunderclan leader meowed, glancing over at the apprentice. "We'll travel along the border from here on out, so stay alert and let me know if you scent a patrol."

Possumpaw lifted her muzzle to the air. "I smell something, but it's stale. I assume SkyClan?"
she meowed.

As the other two talked between themselves, Dewclaw occupied herself with looking over the fresh greenness that was growing around them. It was a much nicer alternative to the cold snow and ice, and she rather liked the feeling of the soft ground under her paws. It was something she had not felt in quite some time.

"Correct. They mark this border daily, just as we do." Lionstar answered. He bean to rub his side against the trunk of the Oak to mark Thunderclan scent, pausing and flicking his tail for his apprentice to help. "We have to make sure the markings are clear or a Skyclan cat may cross over, by accident or not."
