Silverpaw's Battle Training

It was yet another rough day in Riverclan camp, but thankfully, the Shadowclan warriors were able to use their territory. Of course, Gingerheart still wasn't too happy about using places outside of her own home, but she would have to make do. She had an apprentice to teach! Which, in complete honesty, Silverpaw probably didn't like her too much for holding off her training for so long. With a heavy sigh, she walked over to the apprentice's den and stuck her head in. "Silverpaw! It's time for training!"

Silverpaw lifted up her head sleepily. "Huh?" She asked, having just been taking a nap. She quickly stood up when she realized what was happening. "Oh, my battle training!" The apprentice stretched, flexing her claws. "I can't wait! If those rouges come back, they better be prepared for me!"

Gingerheart couldn't help but chuckle at Silverpaw's confidence. She really liked this apprentice and nodded. "When I'm done teaching you what I know, you'll be the most feared warrior in the forest!" She mewed as she turned and trotted out of camp, hoping her nose would help guide her to Riverclan's battle practice grounds. Of course, with the ground already as soft as it was with the river and water, anywhere was decent, but Gingerheart didn't want anyone to get hurt. Well, at least not too much. Injuries built character. "Alright let's go!"

Silverpaw followed closely behind her mentor, grimacing as her fur got soaked by the water surrounding the camp. She shook herself off as she reached the other side, and was mostly dry by the time they reached the battle grounds. "Alright, what am I going to learn first?" She asked.

Gingerheart smiled at her apprentice before getting in an offensive crouch with a mischievous look in her eye. "Well, first of all you will be learning the basic moves, starting with Front Paw Strike." The warrior then glanced around to see what she should hit as a fake target. When she finally found a rather thick patch of reeds she could practice on. Of course, it wasn't like anything she knew from their own territory, but it would have to do. Striking it hard, she looked at her apprentice for her to do the same.

Gingerheart used Front Paw strike to the reeds dealing 0 damage and using 10 stamina.

IC: Silverpaw studied how her mentor did the move, perhaps overthinking it a bit. As Gingerheart watched her she padded up to the reeds. She struck it with her paw, almost stumbling as it collapsed slightly at the impact. She looked back at Gingerheart, hoping she did it right.

"That was great!" Gingerheart mewed happily for Silverpaw. "Just remember to keep your balance. Now, let's try something else. This move is mainly used for when you happened to be trapped underneath other cat, like when they manage to push you over," She said, rolling until she was on her back. "Now this looks a little silly, but in battle, you have to remember that a cat's belly is the softest part of the body, so you want to try to aim for theirs while keeping your own belly protected. This move here is called the Belly Rake." She then lashed at the air above her with unsheathed claws with fierce determination. "Now you try."

Gingerheart used Belly Rake dealing 0 damage and using 10 stamina.

Silverpaw laid on her back, feeling slightly embarrassed at the odd position. Imagining a hostile cat above her, she lashed out with her claws, more confident this time.

Gingerheart nodded at Silverpaw with approval. "You are doing a great job, Silverpaw! You're a natural!" She mewed happily as she suddenly got down into a defensive position. "Alright, now that you have learned all the moves, let's practice. Come at me with all you got!"

Silverpaw blinked, strategies running through her mind, before crouching like her mentor. After a second, she darted in quickly, lashing out with a paw, making sure her claws were sheathed.

"There you go!" She mewed as she watched her apprentice with a happy smile. Although the coordination was a little off. Yes, now Gingerheart was going to be picky because if she wasn't, Silverpaw wouldn't last long in a battle, especially when she could possibly have to face experienced warriors. "There are a couple things you need to try to fix, though. When you are attacking, make sure you don't give away where you're going to go or what you're going to do. The way you can do that is keep yourself from leaning into a running start and keep your eyes on your target at all times. Your eyes can give away which direction you are planning to go if you aren't careful. You will have to gain a little more power in your legs to fully master this, though, but knowing how fast of a learner you are, you will get it down in no time! Now try again," She said, dropping back down into a defensive position.
