One kit to another

The chill became too much for her and Midnightkit stood up, stretching her frozen limbs. Throwin one last glance back at Spiderkit in the shadows, she padded slowly back into the nursery.

Spiderkit's eyes flickered open as he heard Midnightkit retreating back into the nursery. He silently berated himself for ruining a chance with probably the only other cat who would talk to him or befriend him. You don't need her, the whisper called again, You don't need any of them. Spiderkit quivered with denial. Th-that's not true! ...R-right?

Midnightkit stuck her head out of the nursery, feeling bad for leaving Spiderkit out there alone. "Spiderkit," she called, her soft voice carrying over to where he was at, "Do you want to come back in the nursery out of the cold?"

Spiderkit locked gazes with Midnightkit for a moment, before glancing away. "I..." He debating whether staying outside in the cold, away from others would be better than the warmth of the nursery. Maybe if he went inside and pretended to sleep, he wouldn't have to talk? "S-sure..." he muttered finally, slowly uncurling himself and padding back to the nursery.

Midnightkit smiled slightly and moved away from the entrance. She laid, curled in her too big of a nest as she waited for Spiderkit to walk back in.

Spiderkit's pawsteps were slow, tentative. He crept back in, settling himself in a corner of the den away from the others, curling himself back into a ball, tail resting upon his nose.

Midnightkit smiled slightly and covered her face with her tail, still shivering.
