The Awakening

Pain shot though Badgerfang's body as she opened up her eyes. It had been three days since the fox attack. Getting to her paws, she glanced at her back left leg, which stuck out strangely. Badgerfang shook her head, confused what had happen? What was she doing in the Swanpaw's den? She limped out of the den and gazed around the snowy camp. The sun was rising, and the dawn patrol would be out soon. "What happened..." she whispered, as she sat outside of the medicine cat's den, letting out a small moan of pain. She knew that she would never become a warrior again because of her leg...she was sure that it had healed badly when she broke it in the battle. Sunlight shined in the queens eyes as she gazed up at the sky, happy to be alive after that battle.

"Mama! You're awake!" A flash of orange pelted into Badgerfang. "Oh, we thought you would die!" she meowed and nuzzled her nose into her fur, and Silentkit followed her. "But Mothpaw died trying to save you.. we've buried her already." she meowed solemnly.

Badgerfang looked at her kits, her eyes wide. "Mothpaw...is dead?" Badgerfang shook her head, letting out a small sigh. "I don't rember seeing her..."
Silentkit looked at her mother. "We're just happy that you are ok. It's been three days!"
