Bad choices

“Mom, come back!”
“Don’t worry, Silentkit, I will be right back.” Badgerfang meowed as she pushed herself out of the nusery. Quickly stopping she turned and poked her head back in. “Make sure that Singekit doesn’t try to follow me.” Badgerfang turned and padded out of the camp, maybe she could hunt?
As she reached the middle of the territory, she dropped down into a couch when she saw a vole at the roots of the tree. Moving slowly forward like a shadow, she stalked toward the vole.
Suddenly, the vole sat up as the bush behide Badgerfang started to shake, and raced away.
Badgerfang turned around, looking at the bush. “Singekit is that you?” she meowed.
A growl rose from the bush as a fox pushed it way out of the bush and moved toward Badgerfang, it’s thorn-sharp fangs shining in the light that was able to get past the branch of the trees.
Badgerfang let out a hiss as she moved backwards, she didn’t want to fight. She let out a yowl of pain as the fox shot forward and raked it’s claws down her side. Badgerfang took a step away as blood started to drip from where the fox had got her.
The fox turned around, and head budded Badgerfang in the side, knocking her to the ground. It quickly grabbed the queen’s scruff and shook her, throwing her into a tree.
Badgerfang let out a sharp cry as a cracking noise came from her left back leg. Getting to her paws, she looked at the fox as it shot toward her again, biting into the she-cat’s side.
Badgerfang let out a small moan as she slumped to the ground, blood pooling below her. The fox stood above the queen, letting out a small snort as Badgerfang’s eyes closed and everything went black.

Occ: Badgerfang is not dead, the fox just got her really good and her back left leg is broken.

Suddenly a blurr of golden fur and small sharp claws shot into the fox's side like a bullet from the barrel of a gun. Furry mixed with hatred pushed the small she cat into clawing one of the fox's eyes before the two rolled into a pile, leaving Badgerfang open to the woods. A yowl of pain came from Mothpaw, as she clawed furiously at the fox, who had shredded one of her ears, and bent her tail in a very unnatural and awkward shape. "Run, sister! Run!" She called.

The fox let out a growl as it attacked the she-cat. Where had this cat come from? It quickly leaped away and faced the she-cat, letting out a deep growl. It moved slowly toward the she-cat, then darted toward it. Knocking Mothpaw to the side, it pinned her down. It let out a deep snarl, as it moved it's mouth toward the she-cats neck as she tried to get away. They were going to pain for messing up it's hunt. It bite down onto Mothpaw's neck, and then quickly pulled away. The cat wouldn't last long with a wound like that.

Another shape flashed through the reeds, jumping in after the golden blur. She didn't leap at once on the monster though, catching site of Badgerfang and the pool of blood. "Badgerfang!" she wailed before the fox came swinging her way, Mothpaw hanging on tightly like a strange warriors rodeo. It was like nothing had happened before the fox had her pinned down and bit down on her neck. "Get away from my sister you piece of -- !" Sparrowflight snarled and jumped forward, slashing at the fox's face with razor sharp claws until she felt blood. Risky, but hopefully enough to drive the fox away.

Mothpaw gazed at her sister, her eyes looking just as their mother's did. She coughed, spraying the dirt beside her with a splatter of bright red blood. "I'm dying Sparrowflight." She said softly, her eyes looking a bit cloudy. She went back, thinking of all the things she hadn't accomplished, and wished there was more time. But now, there was only a short while.

The fox let out a yowl as the new she-cat got it's face. Where were they all coming from? He took a step away, shaking the blood from his eyes. He had a family, he didn't want them to starve because he picked a fight with some stupid cats. Taking a step back, he glanced around. One cat looked dead...and the other wouldn't live for long. He had done his job. Turning he raced away, fur fluffed up as he raced away. He wanted to be able to see his kits again.

Sparrowflight stood strong until the fox turned it's tail and fled, her teeth still bared and her back arched high. She had to wait a few moments in order to relax herself, in fact, it took the sound of her sister's voice to break her of her adrenaline trace. "M- Mothpaw?" she echoed her little sister's name, spinning her head around. It took her a minuted to realize what was going on before she saw the growing pool of blood, then she rushed over. "N-No you're not. You'll be fine. Get up and we can go back to camp. Come on~." she tried to urge Mothpaw gently to her feet with the soft touch of her nose.

Mothpaw crouched low on her feet, before crumpling into a pile of dull yellow fur. She'd lost her shine, her goldeness. The light was fading from the little she-cat. "I- I can't Sparrowflight." She coughed again, splaying blood all over her sister's white paws. "I miss Mother." She cried out, a sense of loss washing over her. "And Sleepystar." Mothpaw referred to her mentor. Her heart was shattering, at the thought of leaving them all behind. She coughed once more, a pool of blood leaving her mouth. Then she layed very still , her eyes blinking, starring at something beyond her sisters, beyond the setting sun and the woods.

Sparrowflight felt her heart tighten at once, the grief pouring in, StarClan.. this was not happening. Tears came to her eyes, and something inside her mind snapped, the truth she known was inevitable. She was going to die. She was going to join their family. "She'll be waiting for you in StarClan.. and our father and everyone else we miss..." she choked out. "And Sleepystar and I and the whole clan are going to miss you, but you can watch us forever now..." she tried to sooth her dying sister, and it was only twords the end that she started trailing off in realization of Mothpaw's death. "Mothpaw.... Mothpaw?!" the warrior started wailing, shaking the small body with her paws.

"Mothpaw..." a voice called out. When she awoken her eyes again, her mother would be waiting for her.

Mothpaw looked at her mother, her eyes wide with excitement. All at once, she felt herself jump up, and run toward Ebonyroot. "Sparrowflight, Badgerfang! Mother is here!!" She called, happily forgetting her injuries. "Sparrow, Badger!" Mothpaw turned around, laying her eyes on them. It hit her like a sudden pounding of hail on a cloudless day. Her body lay limp on the ground, bleeding profusely in front of Sparrowflight's red stained paws. She was dead.

Warm blood dripped from Badgerfang's wounds, her fur slowly stopped gleaming in the sunlight as dark clouds drifted over the territory, and started to rain. Badgerfang didn't move as the tear-like rain started to fall harder. It seemed that the sky was crying for the lost of Mothpaw.

"You were very brave, Mothpaw, they'll always remember you." Ebonyroot padded forward sadly, licking her kit on the back of the head comfortingly.

Tears were streaming down Sparrowflight's cheeks, and when she opened her eyes once again, they were nearly as faded as her dead sister's. Mothpaw... Oh, how would she tell Pantherpaw? And then it started raining. Perfect. And Badgerfang - - no! Her eyes shot over to her other sister, bleeding and belly still swollen with milk. "Badgerfang? Are you alright?" She slinked under the pouring rain over to the strange calico's body. "Please... please be alright?" she poked the queen with her paw.

Mothpaw purred, looking at her mother. "As they always remember you." She smiled, running around, the her crooked tail straightened, her shredded ear whole, and her gashed neck healed. All was well. And although her sisters cried for her, she felt no more sadness. "Is Badgerfang going to be okay?" She asked, smally.

Singekit, who had finally managed to surpass Silentkit over some shadowberries, followed the scent trail of her mother. Sniffing, she smelled blood, something very weird, and death. Padding forward, she peered into a clearing where she saw her aunt Sparrowflight crouching over something, her mother on the ground, and blood everywhere. "What happened?!" she shouted, running over to her mother, and realized she was in a spot where she could see a bundle of gold fur. Her other aunt was the source of the third smell she had smelled-- death. "Mothpaw! Sparrowflight, what happened?!" she yowled. She buried her nose into Mothpaw's fur, grieving for a moment, and ran back to her mother, and began to lick her face, trying desperately to wake her up. She realized her flank was rising and falling, and found herself incredibly relieved. She then smelled a familiar smell, and turned around and saw a faint flash of blue-grey fur, and then she saw her mother stir.


"That fox must be tracked down, and by all means it must happen. Moonfrost is beginning to be leader already, almost, with Sleepystar practically insane." Maypaw groaned. "At least Badgerfang is not dead. Were she dead, Singekit and Silentkit were likely to starve, yet that fox has forced a heavy loss upon RiverClan. I hope that Badgerfang will be able to tell the others how to care for her, with her knowledge of herbs." she added. Padding over behind Singekit, she brushed her fur against the small kit, and realized that Badgerfang was beginning to wake and quickly padded back into the bushes.

"For Badgerfang and Pantherpaw, ... I should hope so, but you're much more important to them then I ever could've been." she replied, sitting next to her daughter and staring at the two warriors, moments before Singekit came running in. "She will be fine, but her life as a warrior is over. She'll either have to spend the rest of her days in the elders den or staying in the nursery to help the generations to come." Ebonyroot said, "Singekit and Silentkit will not be left alone."

Her mind was so rushed, there was no time to question why the kit was out of camp. "Fox... There was... It got them - - Oh Badgerfang, wake up!" Sparrowflight stumbled out, continuing to shake the she-cat until she started stirring on her own. Sparrowflight rested her head against the she-cat's chest, through the pounding of the rain, she could hear a heart-beat. She was alive. "She's alive - ! We need to get her to Swanpaw! Now!" the warrior said quickly, glancing back at Mothpaw. She couldn't just send Singekit on her own to fetch more warriors, but Badgerfang couldn't go on her own, and she couldn't leave Mothpaw's body behind if that fox chose to come back for a... ugh... meal! Someone else needed to come in and help her...
