Wondering How It Works

Maple sat in the middle of camp watching the cats pass by her. How did this work? How did they get every cat to actually listen to the leader? Was there some kind of law that kept them together? How did the ranking system work? All these questions.

Manypaw padded up to her."What's wrong?" he asked, puzzled.

"Hm. Nothing. Just wondering how your system works." She said.

"Well, warriors teach young cat's how to hunt, so queens, kits, and elders don't starve." he began.

"Hmm." Maple said in thought. "Please, do go on."

"And we have a warrior code that keeps us together and Starclan is in charge. But I don't believe it. Starclan are just a group of Starry Furred mouse-brains!"

Coldglance glared at Manypaw, "We all have opinions on that."he mewed, padding up to the two cats.

"Really? And what does this code say?" Maple asked, curious.

"Protect the clan, Leaders word is law, queens and elders must be fed first, have mercy on your enemys." Manypaw meowed.

"Medicine cats can't have mates,kits must be six moons old to become an apprentice,you can't neglect a kit if it's in pain or in danger, even if it's in a different clan and you must reject the life of a kittypet."he added.

"Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name A cat cannot be made deputy without having mentored at least one apprentice. The deputy will become Clan leader when the leader dies
or retires. After the death or retirement of the deputy, the new deputy must be chosen before
moonhigh. A gathering of all four Clans is held at the full moon during a truce that lasts for the night. There shall be no fighting among Clans at this time. ,Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats" Stripedspine finished.

Moonpaw heard the warrior code being recited, and padded towards the cats- she quickly identified them as Manypaw, Coldglance, and the odd new cat, Maple.
"What are you guys talking about?" She asked, eyes on Maple, as if she could see her.

"That is very interesting." Maple said, with real enthusiasm. She kept this code in mind. "Apparently a warrior code." She said to the cat who had just come up.

"My name's Moonpaw." She added, as if she could tell what was on the she-cat's mind.
