Spiderpaws Battle Training

Demonsoul paced outside of Shadowclan Camp, waiting for Spiderpaw to come out and meet her for their first part of training.

It was only a matter of heartbeats when the eager apprentice noticed her mentor pacing back and forth across the entrance. She lay her half-knawed body of a garder snake on the floor were she lay and began to trot over to Demonsoul.

Demonsoul flicked her tail, aggitated. "Are you ready?" She asked Spiderpaw, her patience on the brink of not existing.

"Ready as I'll ever be." Spiderpaw meowed, not wanting to keep Demonsoul waiting.

She nodded, and turned, glancing back. "Follow me, I have an area where I'd like to train you at." she then started walking towards the area she was trained, and where many memories are at.

She nodded, not wanting to keep her mentor waiting, and spead up beside her.

Soon, they came to a clearing, surrounded with dark trees, and a small tree in the center of the clearing. The tree was lit up by the rays of the sun, and held many many claw marks. "See that tree?" Demonsoul asked, then continued without waiting for an answer, "I want you to show me what you already know, and I want you to use that tree as your opponent."

Spiderpaw nodded, her eyes locked on the small tree in the center of the clearing before her, the leaves dangling from the branches gleaming golden from the sunlight. Long, visible clawmarks- presumably Demonsouls- had been embedded deep into the bark after many practice and training sessions. She took a deep breath, the world around her growing silent for a heartbeat, but then resuming to the ordinary chirping of birds and the quiet whisper of the breeze as it glided swiftly through the thin blades of growing grass. With the flick of her tail, she arched her back into a clumsy curved line, her long claws sliding form their sheaths as she did so. She bristled her fur, lunging at the tree with her paws extended, only hanging onto the three momentarily by her claws before she slid to the ground and landed on her back with a thud. She shook her head as she regained her balance. "I don't know much about fighting." She admitted with a blush.

Demonsoul smiled aside from herself and nodded sliightly, "You actually don't have that bad of a stance, you just need to fix it slightly to get more power." With that, Demonsoul crouched so that her body sloped upwards from her head, and finished at her tail, which was perfectly still. Her eyes were focused on the tree, but she was also paying attention to her surroundings too. Then, in less that a second, she pounced at the tree, claws unsheathed, and sliced the trees trunk before she landed gracefully at the top. "See?" she asked, calling down to Spiderpaw, "Its all about the stance."

Spiderpaw watched in amazement as Demonsoul swiftly sliced the tree trunk with her powerful claws, a visible gash were the bark had been was now torn off and shredded by her paws.

Demonsoul flicked her tail, and jumped down to pad silently back beside Spiderpaw. "You saw my stance, now, try and copy it." She said softly. "If you get it down, perfectly, we will move onto something else. If you don't, we will have training tomorrow."

Spiderkit nodded nervously, her long claws kneading the sandy ground beneath her paws in anticipation and nervousness.
With a sigh, she attempted to immitate Demonsouls stance, the way that her back sloped perfectly upwards and her steady legs as the prepared for battle. With a grunt, she bunched her legs up and pounced at the tree. Her claws sliced across the bark, leaving a long scratch across the surface of the tree. But it wasn't nearly as deep as the one Demonsoul had done.

Demonsouls eyes had followed Spiderpaws body motion, seeing how well she could immitate. "Good." she said softly, "But it can be better. Do it again, this time, try to make me proud of you."

Spiderpaw flattened her ears, trying to make Demonsouls words insult her so she would be forced to push her actions further and draw more damage to the tree. She arched her back to the point of perfection, unsheathed her claws and lepts at the tree with her claws outstreatched to the point that they hurt. Hissing, she raked both claws down the tree, this time her movements being swifter and steadier, and the clawmarks she had left in the tree had been shorter and deeper then the one before. The ground beneath her hindclaws which she had used to launch herself had deep clawmarks engraved in the soil from the power of the takeoff. She knew instantly she had done better then the first. She looked up at her mentor, waiting for approvement.

Demonsouls face was unreadable. She didn't even nod. The only movement was the flicking of her tail as she assessed Spiderpaws attempt. "It can be improved." She whispered softly, "But it is good, for now. Onto the next step. What do you want to practice?"
