Finding Swankit

Sleepystar stealthily crouched down in the shallow bank of the river. He was watching a fish closely as it swam by. Sleepystar's claws flashed out as it swam into his range, and he knocked it ashore. The fish flopped away for dear life, and Sleepystar gave chase to his escaping prey.

Rosepaw was watching Sleepystar from a bush, trying to see how you hunt. Seeing a different fish from the one Sleepystar wa spursuing, Rosepaw jumped into the river. Swimming was easy. She swiped for the fish. She caught it and swam back to shore. "Mrrow," she meowed, amused.

A sudden scruff of brown fur could be seen from under the water. It was followed from an exasperated mew from a small kit. Water filled in around it as it sturggled to keep above the current. It was a scary thought, who would leave their newborn kit in a rushing current?

Sleepystar watched with dismay as the fish jumped into the water and swam off, just to see the kit drowning. He gasped with surprise and jumped after the dying kit, grasping her scruff and pulling her above water.

The kit was no bigger than the fish herself. However her fur clamped tightly in wet matts, made her heavier than she seemed. The kit mewed helplessly, still young enough not to know what was happening. The kit squirmed helplessly in Sleepystar's jaw and hiccuped up water.

"Dmn't... Strmmngle." Sleepystar said through Swankit's fur, his voice muffled. He paddled towards the bank, keeping his head up at an awkward angle trying to keep Swankit's nose above water.
