Fooling with the Kits

Metalshard walked into camp with two voles "Ive got some more, Deadstar." she mewed, setting them down on the freshkill pile, then picking one out for herself and sitting down by her leader. Watching the kits, she smiled warmly.

Deadstar gave a nod of approval to Metalshard. "Thank you. They're growing fast; they need food."

Metalshard nodded. "With our Goldenstar gone and Leopardheart missing, its surpirsing that we are doing so well." she mewed. "Who is our new depudy, I don't belive ive been told."

Shaking out her pelt, Flamekit purred contently on her sun-warmed rock.

Deadstar licked his paw and smoothed his whiskers. "Silversoul," he replied. He glanced over at Flamekit, whiskers twitching. "I chose her because she reminds me of Sunset."

"Deadstar!" Flamekit caught his glance. "Want to share the rock?"

The leader shook his head. "I'm okay for now, Flamekit," he replied. "You can have it."

Flamekit shrudded and ran off in search of food.

Metalshard smiled warmly. "She will make a wonderfully deputy." She mewed, watching the kits some more.

`Well at least we got more food because when I'm starving I throw big meltdowns and you probably wouldn't want that to happen"! He yowled. `And whats with all the cats here"? He mewed.

"We are just hanging out." Metalshard replyed.

Deadstar sighed. "Stormkit, calm down." His tone was hinted with amusement. "I'm sure this isn't meant to get feisty." He patted the young blue-gray tom on the head with his tail.

Pinkkit watched from the nursery and giggled. "yeah stormkit."

Metalkshard smiled. "Kits lives are so peacefull....sometimes." she added remembing her own life as a kit.

Deadstar flattened his ears. "Lucky you.." He trailed off for a moment in memories, then snapped back to reality. "I had a rough kithood. My apprentice ceremony was held back because of these." He raised his tail to the badger claw marks on the right side of his face.
