Strolling in the Moonlight

Ebonyroot padded into the clearing, the moonlight pouring on and all around her.

Icewhisker, with catnip and cobwebs in his mouth, looked at the Fourtrees from where it met with WindClan territory. Only after a few seconds of breathing in the catnip's sweet scent, did he notice the familiar pelt of his beloved. (xD) The large tom smiled and quietly padded into the large clearing, not wanting to frighten Ebonyroot.

The she-cat was busy peering down at a few different assortments of leaves she had gathered, "Marigold.. Yarrow... Snakeroot... Tansy.." she flicked her tail as she counted them to herself quietly, and she was still missing so much. Ebonyroot sighed, she hadn't even noticed Icewhisker approach.

"Need any Catnip? I have plenty." Icewhisker whispered in her ear once he figured out she didn't notice him. He was now standing beside her with a big smile on his face, and his herbs at his paws.

"Oh, dear StarClan!" Ebonyroot stiffened and yelped as she leaped forward, fighting the instinct to bat at the tom with unsheathed paws. Thankfully she didn't as she finally realized who it was.
"Icewhisker!" she nearly hissed, trying to regain her composure. "You stupid mouse-brain, what do you think you're doing?"

"I-I'm sorry I scared you like that..." Icewhisker mewed quietly, looking down at his paws. He barely noticed that Ebonyroot's claws were unsheathed, and he let out a small sigh.

"I scared you that much?" he asked, flicking his tail at her paws.

"Oh..." Ebonyroot looked down and sheathed her claws, they wouldn't serve her well anyways, they were never used. "I'm sorry... I've been so flighty since the badger attack..." the she-cat forced a small smile. "What are you doing out here?"

"Oh ya...the badger attack...How is everything at ShadowClan? No sightings of badgers?" he asked, not really hearing her question.

"Not lately..." Ebonyroot looked down darkly, "But the disgusting scent is everywhere. They tore the dens apart and completely destroyed out herb supply." she sighed, "But at least they're gone..." She had to admit, they were weaker then before, no matter how rapidly they were recovering. She hoped Icewhisker wouldn't share this news with Featherstar.

"That must be hard...Here, take some." he meowed, pushing some catnip and cobwebs toward her.

"You need it more than me. Anyway, I have time to grab some later." he meowed with a smile.

Ebonyroot nodded solemnly. "It is..." she said, distracted as her eyes trailed over to the herbs. "Thank you." The medicine cat quietly grabbed an Ivy leaf and wrapped the Catmint safely inside and it, along with the cobweb, beside the rest. She looked back at Icewhisker and smiled, "Not a great greeting but you have amazing timing. This will be put to good use." She nudged his shoulder with her paw playfully. "I've been so tired lately... What about you? Have you been okay?"

"Your welcome. It's the least I could do." he meowed, still smiling. The fact that her herbs we gone troubled him. What if someone gets hurt...what then? he thought.

"I'm fine really. No need to worry. Prey is good, no sick cats, we are also gaining warriors. We also had 2 deaths, that I know of at least." he meowed, wondering if he should tell her. Maybe she's friends with one... he wondered.

Ebonyroot gave him a small smile, shuffling her paws silently. "Well, that's good... one of us has died too. And we almost lost our deputy..." Speaking of which, mental note, get borage leaves while you're out here. "Who was it?" She looked at him curiously, her eyes full of concern.

"I'll tell you, but don't tell anyone please." he meowed, look at her with big blue eyes.

"Raccoontail has died...I don't know how, and we haven't found her body yet...she had just become deputy too...then there was Firefly...she died in the Gorge as I've been told. Apparently she tried to commit suicide." he explained, looking down.

"Of course..." Ebonyroot blinked, looking at him. Her face softened up, then turning to disbelief. "Firefly killed herself? No way... Well, they're in StarClan's paws now, I hope..." She sighed, thinking of her old friend, what a shame it was. And what happened to Raccoontail? The same thing as Lilacbreeze perhaps?
