Nightpaw cowered behind his mother. "N-n-n-no", mewed Nightpaw shakily

"Just be honest" Snowclaw mewed "I can tell you are lying"

Ebonyroot flicked her ears, hearing a familiar mew, backed down by Snowclaw and Metalshard. "He's there because I sent him there." The she-cat quickly jumped away from the other medicine cats and wove herself between the three of them. "Surely, Lilyleaf must have told you? He broke his leg at the Fallen Oak, Brightpaw is taking care of him at SkyClan until he is ready to return home." she flicked her ear. "You should count yourself he could make it this far tonight to visit you, I doubt he'd be able to walk a mouse-length further."

Snowclaw then noticed her sons broken leg."Oh you poor thing!" she mewed,sort of wailing "No,Lilyleaf hasn't told me" she mewed,calming down a little bit

Nightpaw nuzzled his mother still a little afraid of Metalshard "mommy I uh met someone and well um we really like each other." Mewed Nightpaw feeling a little embarased.

"Skyclan should have let us know, I don't want them around our apprentices.." she growled still agitated. She lifted her gaze as she realised the apprentices fear. "Its ok, little brother." she smiled warmly. Even though she was adopted, she liked to think of all of Snowclaws kits, as her siblings.

"Mommy the person that I met well I um I love her and she loves me." mewed Nighpaw scared about what his mother's reaction might be, he soon he broke down in tears "Mommy I love her and I can't live without her! what do I do?"He cried though his sobs were muffled by his mother's fur and he no longer cared or feared what his mother's reaction might be.

Icewhisker noticed Ebonyroot help the apprentice that was beside Snowclaw. He was guessing, by the way he pressing his face in her fur, that the apprentice was Snowclaw's son. He let it go, and looked back up at the Great Rock, getting impatient.

Metalshard gasped disbelife and sadness. "Young love is tough, isn't it, little one." she purred. "This she-cat, is from Skyclan right?" she asked. "Well it seems you have joined them anyway, I don't see whats wrong with it." at this point Metalshard felt like she should help, but she didn't know how, for the first time she felt like she didn't belong in the family she pushed her way into. She looked down and grew quiet.

Nightpaw buried his head in his mother's fur and wailed like a lost kit.

Ebonyroot flicked her tail, fighting the childish urge to hiss 'I told you so' in Nightpaw's ear. Whether the tom joined SkyClan or not was no concern of hers, she simply hoped for the two night's sakes that the right choice was made. She padded back and muttered to Icewhisker, "He's in love with a SkyClan cat, I can't imagine how torn he must feel, especially if things go the most likely way, he'll almost never see his family again past this night..." She sighed and sat back down, curling her tail over her paws.

Metalshard smiled at her brother and sighed. He must feel horrible, and i'm no help at all. She thought. She knew how he felt, for the same thing was happening to her, on that thought she looked up and around for Bumblepaw, but he was not at this gathering. Shaking her head she looked back down waited for the leaders to start.

Nightpaw sobbed quietly, he looked heartbroken.

Brightpaw padded towards fourtreees, her eyes darting around, looking for her mentor Ebonyroot. She spotted the she-cat next to a crying tom. "Are you ok", she meowed in a delicate tone to the ThunderClan apprentice.

Metalshards eyes flashed as memory from Dragonsoul flooded to her. This was Dragonsoul's sister, why haven't she heard of her? "I wouldn't talk to him right now, he has a lot going on." she purred in a gental voice her eyes flashing at the Skyclan apprentice as if she knew her.
