Lightningpaw's First Hunt

Graystream stood alone in the center of the camp waiting for Lightningpaw.

"Hi graystream," Lightningpaw said as she came bounding into the clearing.

"Hi Lightningpaw," He addressed her with a friendly nod in greeting, "Would you like to go Hunting today?" He asked as it would be her first time to actually catch fresh-kill for the Clan.

"Yes! I can't wait to hunt!" Lightningpaw was excited.. She remembered hot once when she was a kit she'd snuck out to hunt for the clan. Graystream had found her and took her to explore a little. she would never forget about that.

"Let's head out then," He meowed happily, and with a smile, as they set out into the forest. Ironically, as they padded through the forest Graystream spotted the spot where Lightningpaw had snuck out. It brought a fond memory to his mind as they continued through the forest. Eventually, they stopped near the old owl tree when he noticed something, "Lightningpaw, what can you smell?" He asked slowly, he wanted to see how well her nose had developed.

"Ummm..." Lightingpaw smelled the air. " Mouse! Over by the roots of that tree!" She said. "How do I catch it?"

"With the Hunters Crouch," Graystream replied quietly, he quickly dropped into the technique he had used countless times before and demonstrated how to use it. When he finished he flicked his tail towards the mouse, "Give it a try," He finished as he eyed the mouse in antisipation.

Lightningpaw dropped into the crouch, swishing her tail around. She crept up and pounced. It just escaped her paws. " Darn it!" She said.

Graystream leaped after the mouse. He cut it off right before it was able to go under some bushes and it ran back around, "Lightningpaw it's open!" Graystream called as the mouse was scurying past Lightningpaw.

Lightningpaw ran after the mouse, then pounced. She just barely got, but she managed to get a claw into it. She caught it! "Awesome!" She said.

"Nicely done," Graystream meowed approvingly as he padded over to Lightningpaw, "It feels good to make your first catch dosen't it?" He asked as he began to scent around the area for more prey. He noticed a thrush a little ways off and he signaled to Lightninpaw with his tail for her to try and catch it.

Lightningpaw dropped down into the hunters crouch, creeping up to the thrush and pounced, catching it. She was more prepared this time.

"Nicely done!" Graystream meowed approvingly as he looked around the forest for scents of prey. The two cats Hunting for a couple of hours before finally calling it quits and heading back to camp. When they returned to camp they had caught a large amount of fresh-kill for the Clan. "Great work today Lightningpaw." Graystream meowed happily with a hint of pride in his voice.

"Thank you!" Lightningpaw mewed happily, showing how proud she was of herself. " Will we do battle training tomorrow?" She asked.

IC: "Of course," He meowed casually as he began to pad off to the Warriors den. He flicked his tail in farewell to Lightningpaw.
