MEET DEPUTY:

MEET HEMLOCKFOX:

NOTE-WORTHY ABILITIES : A lifetime of hunting fish has fostered lightning quick reflexes and sharp decision making skills, although their speed still doesn't match up to that of a WindClan cat. Of course, RiverClan is most notably revered for their confidence and ability to swim within even the most treacherous rapids.

⭒ Passive Clan Special Move : Slippery Coat | x
⭒ Active Clan Special Move : Underwater Clinch | x

TERRITORIAL & SEASONALFringing the outskirts of an old, dilapidated barn, RiverClan's territory is primarily a low basin region sparsely populated with any foliage beyond thick reedbeds and the occasional young beech grove. Heavily interspersed with runoff tributaries and shallow streams interlacing across various points of the lowlands, the closely guarded heart of the territory resides upon the treacherous banks of the main river itself- a small sand-locked island carefully concealed within the grasp of thick reeds and old willow trees.

BEECH COPSE : Sparse grove of predominantly land-locked beech trees; largely used for training exercises.
Visual Aesthetic: x & x

BROKEN POOLS : Series of shallow pools left behind from river-overflow; predominantly used by Queens to teach their kits how to swim.
Visual Aesthetic: x & x

TWOLEGPLACE FARM : An older, poorly-kept barn on the outskirts of the territory; not frequented by twolegs for large portions of the year.
Visual Aesthetic: x & x

DISPUTED TERRITORIES:
-THE SUNNINGROCKS: held by RIVERCLAN.
-THE GORGE: held by WINDCLAN.
DISADVANTAGED PENALTY? Non-Applicable!

CURRENT SEASON: Newleaf.
USUAL WEATHER: Sunny / Warm / Pleasant
RIVER STATUS: Running HIGH.

INNER RULES & CULTURERiverClan currently places great importance on the bonds between cats; all Clanmates are expected to be on at least speaking terms with one another, if not being friends or more. If there is a dispute, then cats are expected to put it behind them in order to cooperate on hunting, patrolling and fighting. While the needs of the Clan come before the needs of the individual, all individuals are to be loved and appreciated.

⭒ ACCEPTANCE POLICY:
Rogues/Loners/Kittypets generally not accepted, except in extenuating circumstances.
Clan-hopping cats are considered on a case-by-case basis.
Exiled Clan cats are never accepted.
Kits are sheltered, but there will be efforts made to find where they came from. If a kit smells of a different Clan, they will be taken to that Clan safely. If a kit is evidently a loner, rogue, or kittypet, they will be brought safely back to Twolegplace if possible. In the event of there being no results to finding their homes or parents, or circumstances being otherwise too dangerous, they will be temporarily sheltered. Once they reach apprentice age, kits will be allowed to choose whether to stay in RiverClan or go elsewhere. If they choose to stay, they will be treated as any other RiverClan cat. If they choose to leave, they will not be welcome back on the territory. (tl;dr, it will be very difficult for a kit to be brought into RiverClan.)

 CODE-BREAKING

Perchstar is not an unkind cat. However, she is strict on matters of the Code.

⭒ FORBIDDEN ROMANCE POLICY:
• Perchstar is not sympathetic to forbidden romances. However, if the cat is a trustworthy RiverClan warrior, and tells the truth to Perchstar, compromises may be possible. If the mate wishes to join RiverClan, and proves sufficiently trustworthy, then they may-- but they will be heavily monitored for at least three moons after joining, and thrown out at the lightest suspicion of untrustworthiness. If the mate does not wish to join RiverClan, then they will be expected to cease the relationship.
• If the RiverClan cat is the mother of kits, all kits will be expected to stay in RiverClan. If the RiverClan cat is the father of kits and the mother does not join RiverClan, then they will be expected to either have the kits join RiverClan and be nursed by another queen, or have no relations with the kits or mother. Perchstar does not believe in separating litters-- either they all go to RiverClan, or none of them do.
• If a cat has a forbidden romance and lies to Perchstar, or does not tell her, and is only found out through StarClan or other circumstances, then they will receive severe punishment. Depending on how trustworthy they have been before, they may be only sent out with supervision, confined to camp, or even potentially exiled. These consequences will last as long as Perchstar deems them necessary.

⭒ CODE-BREAKING (NON-SEVERE):
• Smaller instances of code-breaking, such as accidental trespassing; eating prey before serving the elders, queens and kits; shirking responsibilities; or similar trespasses, will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. Punishments may range from apprentice duties to being confined to camp. The more offenses a cat has, the stricter their punishment will be. Punishments will always be lesser if Perchstar finds out from the cat who broke the rules, rather than another cat.

⭒ CODE-BREAKING (SEMI-SEVERE):
• More severe instances of code-breaking, such as hunting on another Clan’s territory; trespassing on another Clan’s territory; fighting a Clanmate with claws; refusing to follow the leader’s orders without good reason or prior discussion; breaking the truce at the Gathering; instigating fights at the border; and other such trespasses will be dealt with more harshly. The least severe punishment is a moon’s worth of apprentice duties, and being supervised by a trusted warrior. If the code-breaking involved another Clan, then the other Clan will be informed of the cat’s punishment. Perchstar will not consult the other Clan, but will let them know that reparations will be made.

⭒ CODE-BREAKING (MOST-SEVERE):
• Maiming will not be tolerated. If a cat has badly injured another, whether from another Clan or their own, without good reason, then they will be severely punished. The punishment will be slightly less severe if the cat tells Perchstar themselves. However, the punishment will be severe. If it involves another Clan, then Perchstar will involve that Clan in the discussion. Punishment may range from demotion to apprentice, to staying with the other Clan for a moon, to exile in extreme circumstances.
Murder is the worst crime a cat can commit. There are only a few circumstances that will not result in immediate exile: proven self-defense, a battle entirely outside the code, or proven protection of the Clan or another cat. If none of these are the case, then the cat will be permanently exiled from RiverClan, and all other Clans will be warned to shun them and drive them off their territory, even if the cat tells Perchstar themselves. If a cat is believed to be extremely dangerous, and would cause more danger to the forest if exiled, then they will be given the choice of death by the claws of another cat or by deathberry. No murderer will be allowed to escape.

CURRENT HAPPENINGS[CURRENT CLAN STANDINGS:
ThunderClan: Ally. Though the friendship of Perchstar and Mottlestar can no longer continue, the respect between the two Clans still remains after fighting alongside each other. Whether this will change with Acornstar's leadership remains to be seen.
WindClan: Neutral. Though WindClan and RiverClan have a history of skirmishes, the new leadership of Tigerstar leaves most bad blood in the past. RiverClan no longer has a reason to hate WindClan, but there is no alliance nor positivity either. The retaking of the Gorge is questionable, but hope remains that the leaderships can talk it out.
ShadowClan: Neutral. Similarly to WindClan, the end of Nightstar’s ill-fated leadership means an end to the tensions between RiverClan and ShadowClan. They share no border, and so they have no territory to fight over. Perchstar’s opinion of Leopardstar and her Clan is neither strongly good nor bad.
SkyClan: Hostile. With the alliance ended violently, both Beechfang and Birdstar are dead by Perchstar's fangs. RiverClan harbors no love for their former ally, with injuries incurred and more attacks threatened, especially on the medicine cat Littlesplash. Tensions are high and hatred runs deep.

* RiverClan recently had a clash with SkyClan as retribution for them housing the cat that murdered RiverClan's old medicine cat. ThunderClan came along as RiverClan's allies, seeking their own justice after a SkyClan cat took one of Mottlestar's lives and killed an apprentice. In the end, both SkyClan and ThunderClan's leaders died, leaving RiverClan in a precarious position between these clans as the one that started the war.

* Our newest medicine cat earned his name: Littlesplash! He was injured in the RiverClan/ThunderClan/SkyClan war but continues to work hard to better his abilities as a medicine cat.

* Newleaf is slowly approaching after a long and harsh leafbare. Warmer waters, fatter fish, and fresh prey is to be expected--and with it, hopefully, a new time of peace for RiverClan.
