Adderdawn

When Adderdawn set out for another routine spar, it was with discomfort bridling under his pelt. His sparring partner this time– he didn't look at Sleepyhollow while they marched through the snow. She was Coyotegrin's daughter, which put them in same nameless, half-family position. Despite that, he'd never spoken to her more than in passing... and she'd never spoken to him, more than to bare her fangs and laugh at him when he challenged Shrikestar. It made his hackles lift with discomfort, shame, agitation. He prayed one of them would make quick work of the other, and this would be over fast.

Drawing to a slow stop, Adderdawn cleared his throat, staring idly into the horizon. He wasn't keen on just leaping straight at her, nor did he want to give her an invitation to bowl into him. Irrational as it might have been, he was afraid she would use this as an excuse to shred him for railing against her father. With another forced cough, he offered, "Are you ready? We can walk a little farther, if not."
