| Random ideas/ stuff about the Clans. Feel free to comment your ideas below! (I might add them, who knows?) Terminology
In no particular order. Sorry.
Son/kit of a rotting/rotten vixen- equivalent of son of a #%@*&. She-cats can be called vixen or vixen-hearted for the equivalent. Dog-dung- one step up from darn. Stinky, often used as an exclamation or in description- “You dog-dunged vixen!” Horse-dung- - and here we reach the pinnacle of insults. Most often used by WindClan and probably originated there, as they sometimes have horses ride across parts of their territory. Even the most potty-mouthed of cats don’t use this that often. Dirt-eater- refers to a cat that uses obvious flattery or is extremely subservient- “That little dirt-eater laps up every word he says.” Eat my dirt- you can probably guess what that one means. Dirty- used as an adjective, roughly equivalent to the British use of “bloody.” - “The whole dirty forest saw me…” Half-blood- occasionally used to refer to Half-Clan cats, but also is just a general insult to both the cat and their family. Pelt-wearer- a more recent insult, inspired by the Asylum takeover. Can mean a former Asylum cat or somecat who hides their true feelings or intentions. Can’t have thunder without the sky- means that each Clan belongs. Occasionally “Can’t have the wind without the sky” is used. Chatterbug- chatterbox. Damp-fur- a cat that is gloomy or pessimistic. Dustybones- an old cat. Generally used in a light-hearted, joking fashion. Cold lows, StarClan shows. Warm dawn, StarClan warns- a little rhyme used to refer to the weather. Cold generally means dry, cloudless weather while warm fronts bring storms. Choosing between the fox and the hound- choosing between a lesser and greater evil. Cuckoo egg in a robin nest- similar to pelt-wearer but less recent, referring to an evil hiding under a mask of good.
Circling clouds are found, go underground- usually a WindClan saying that refers to the rare tornado. Sand-snorter- used by WindClan. In training, new apprentices often trip into a rabbit hole, kicking about and getting sand everywhere. Means a newbie, often an inexperienced or clumsy one. Tunnelers use sand-eater instead. Hare-fluff between the ears- dumb. Storm-calm- most commonly used by WindClan, as their moor territory lets them see and feel storms coming from miles off. Used to describe the environment or, more commonly, a cat, meaning they are bottling up their emotions and are likely to explode at somecat in the near future. “He’s storm-calm, keep your distance ‘til it blows over.” Blind cat in a tunnel- most commonly used by WindClan. Refers to a situation that plays to a cat’s strengths. Other Clans might say “Blind cat at night.” - “He’s old as the forest, but this is a blind cat in a tunnel.” (Would probably refer to a situation where the cat’s age doesn’t impact his success or even helps his chances, like speaking to a leader, as the leader will respect the elder. The saying usually has a positive effect, as a blind cat in a tunnel can actually function better than sighted cats.) Few bees short of a swarm/ rabbits short of a warren- somecat’s not the sharpest tool in the shed. A WindClan insult that is typically used to disagree with a cat, not say he is truly dumb- “He’s a few bees short of a swarm, if you get my meaning.”
Water-blood- a RiverClan insult that calls a cat a coward. River-blood- a RiverClan praise that calls a cat loyal. Wet-paw- an affectionate praise that means a cat is truly at home in RiverClan. Often used when a cat has had trouble fitting in but now truly belongs. Shine-pelt- refers to a pretty cat, but is actually an insult, as Twolegs have been known to carry off pretty cats. This insult says the cat in question is “all shine and no wits.” Few scales short of a fish- a RiverClan insult. Same use as above.
Clear-sky- a ThunderClan insult that probably originated in Thunderstar’s hatred of Clear Sky, but no one knows for sure. Means a disloyal cat. Webbed-paw- for some reason, this is a ThunderClan insult that accuses the target of being too fond of RiverClan. Why this is a ThunderClan-specific insult is not known, although it’s likely because ThunderClan borders RiverClan, and RiverClan cats are historically good at stealing a young cat’s heart. Few trees short of a grove/ few mice short of a nest- a ThunderClan insult. Same use as above. When squirrels fly- a ThunderClan term that means “when pigs fly”.
Tree-flying- a SkyClan term that refers to a cat climbing through the trees like a squirrel, acting more on instinct, reflexes and split-second decisions than consciously thinking about the next jump. Dirt-eaters- a derogatory term most used in SkyClan that refers to a cat who does not climb. Few trees short of a grove/ few stars short of a sky- SkyClan insult, same use as above. Creaker- a SkyClan term that refers to an almost dead limb that creaks ominously when weight is put on it.
Chokehold- a narrow place, perfect for an ambush or for a small group to hold off much larger numbers. Furred- a ShadowClan term that refers to lighter-furred cats that have more difficulty blending in with the shadows. Like most ShadowClan terms, it has probably been shortened for brevity, and the original term most likely made more sense at first glance. Pelted- a ShadowClan term that refers to darker-pelted cats that blend with the shadows with ease. Few pools short of a marsh/ few snakes short of a nest- ShadowClan insult, same use as above. Butterfly- a ShadowClan term that is similar to “a bleeding heart.”
Choosing between yew and holly- a term medicine cats often use, referring to choosing between a lesser and greater evil.
I’ll edit this with more later

| oh we discussed this in the discord one time! I had Lichenblaze using "fox" as the F-word lol, i had an idea that maybe each clan had their own specific one? "Fox" for SkC, "fish" for RC, "frog" for SC, stuff like that!
"Fox" would be used like, "by the foxing dark forest", "foxing scat", etc. ______________________________________ |

| Oooh that sounds cool! I generally use horse-dung (a steaming pile of that is not fun, especially to a cat) |

| "Heart in the stars" could be a simliar use to Heart on the shoulder! "This tastes like kittypet food!" could be used to describe bland prey, and "Doveling" could be used as endearing term! ______________________________________ Spotlake (Tier 5 warrior) Nightwolf (Elder) Quaildock (Tier 2 warrior) Quietstep/Delilah(kittypet)

| A cat being "made/built of tinder" could mean that they are quick to anger and fire up.
However, a cat being "made of thistledown" or something else soft is the opposite, being a big pushover or very gentle.
"A yew in a bundle of hollies" is basically "a wolf in sheep's clothing." A cat that is hostile or nasty that pretends to be good. Holly berries and yew berries (death berries) look pretty similar, but only yew berries are extremely poisonous. (Technically hollies will give you a bellyache, you shouldn't eat those either, but they won't kill you)
"A cuckoo egg in a robin's nest" is basically the same as above. A nasty cat pretending to be kind.
Edit: One more I just thought of. "Choosing the fox over the hound" Choosing the lesser of two evils. ______________________________________ Boartusk | Shadowclan T3 Warrior | #990000Oleanderpaw | Riverclan Apprentice | #669933Spiderdance | Windclan T3 Warrior | #0883D4Serpentkit | Thunderclan Unborn Kit | #703642Not DepictedPlotting Page | Art Emporium | Character Profiles |

| drypaw isnt really an insult but a riverclan word for a riverclan cat that's afraid of water, it was used in canon to describe leopardstar (kit, at the time) ______________________________________ FINCHKIT - KIT - THUNDERCLAN [10HP/30SP] |

| Maybe “Leafstep” could be used to describe a soft light step. Because leaf’s are very light. It annoys me how light they are. ……. |
