Hello WCC! Maple here with a few major updates and announcements that staff has been working on!

This update applies largely to medicine cats and their function on the site, with the addition of a few new systems and some patches on older systems that are already in place. There are four major categories that I’ll go over in more detail below!

Ranking Requirements:
First on the list is the ranking requirements for medicine cats. This update has been a long time coming! After consideration, we’ve decided to implement development topics specific to MCs and MCAs that will be used in the same fashion as regular development topics for warriors. Each rank will require a certain amount of development topics, which can be chosen from the list below.

• Heal one cat (can be used up to two times within one tier)
  
• Save a cat’s life from injury or illness
  
• Assist with the birth of a litter
  
• Speak up at a gathering about an issue
  
• Speak with your leader and/or deputy about a prophecy
  
• Attempt to heal or accommodate a disabled cat
  
• Comfort a cat in distress
  
• Interpret an omen
  
• Interpret a false omen
  
• Consult with StarClan about an issue
  
• Interact with an MC from another Clan outside of Gatherings and MC Meetings
  
• Share and discuss a prophecy with your apprentice
  
• Teach a warrior or warrior apprentice about herbs/basic medicine
  

These development topics will take the place of very specific requirements that were previously needed to rank up that may be harder to achieve and dependent on other RPers. Hopefully, this will lend to letting MCs control their ranking speed rather than having to rely on others.

In the same vein, medicine cat requirements for ranking up have been updated in order to help promote more development while still getting in heals and herb hunts, as well as to make things a bit easier in terms of the workload. As a final note regarding the ranking changes, if you have a medicine cat then your next rank up can utilize the old system or the new. Any subsequent rank ups must use the new system. You may use any finished/ongoing topics for the new rank up requirements, provided they were still done within the current tier.

Class System:
Next up, we have the brand new class system. Thanks to a suggestion from Holly, which can be found here, warriors and warrior apprentices won’t lose any battle training they may have received if they choose to take on the path of the medicine cat. There are three classes: Classic, Hybrid, and Battle Trained. Each class has a host of different benefits and stats that reflect the training they’ve been through. Specific details on each class can be found in the spoiler below.

To go along with that, we’ve modified the stats of each class. Rather than HP and SP corresponding to individual tiers, it will now correspond to the class of each MC. The stats are as follows:

Classic MCA: 20/80
Classic MC: 35/100
Hybrid MC/A: 40/120
Battle-Trained MC/A: Varies based on the tier they became MCA

Healing System:
As seen above in the class system, there have been a few moves added to the healing system. On top of the specialized class moves that have been added to the system, we have modified the stats of existing moves to be more accurate to the battle system, and we’ve added SP moves! This has been suggested by several members over the years, and we’ve finally decided to implement it! You can find an updated version of the healing system here!

Prophecies and Omens:
Finally, we’ve changed the way that prophecies are delivered and implemented a more official way of utilizing omens. Prophecies at medicine cat meetings will go as follows:

1. Attend the meeting at Highstones and roll the "StarClan Revelation" along with an "Effect" die to learn what topic your cat will get information on, along with the method of the prophecy. You must do this within 15 days of the meeting's posted date.
   
2. Staff will choose a relevant plot point for your character to receive information on from the Plotting Board and send it to you.
   
3. Roleplay out your cat meeting with whatever StarClan member you've chosen (you should be roleplaying both cats) and be sure to include the prompts provided to you by Staff. The revelation will only have a vision if the Effect dice rolled a 5 or 6, and it will be included in your message from Staff.
   
4. Only Medicine Cats + Medicine Cat Apprentices with their full name can receive revelations. If you're a Medicine Cat Apprentice whose name ends in -paw, you are unable to receive hints from StarClan (unless you are the sole MC in your Clan).
   

An omen is a strictly natural occurrence that can be interpreted by a medicine cat, whether for good or for bad. They are an opportunity for medicine cats to try and predict blessings and warnings through nature. Medicine cats are given more creative freedom with omens as they won’t be assigned by Staff. They can happen as often or as rarely as the MC chooses, but we encourage them to be used at least once per tier. Additionally, omens don’t always have to be interpreted correctly. An MC could make an incorrect guess at what an omen means, or believe something is an omen when it is really nothing at all. It is important to note that while omens can prove insight into what may happen, they are not a foolproof way to predict the future. Medicine cats will be allowed to interpret omens related to plotting page events so long as they coordinate with those involved and the omen remains vague. We hope to see omens become a more integrated part of RP here on WCC that could add a little spice to the experience, both IC and OOC!

All current MCs will be allowed to finish their current rank using the old ranking system if they chose to do so. However, after completing their current tier, they must use the new ranking requirements to rank up their characters. If they wish to use the new system to rank up their characters right away, that is fine as well. Requirements earned under the previous system can be used with the new system so long as they are still within the correct tier.

Additionally, we’d like to recognize Holly for the initial idea of the Class system. There were some modifications made to fine-tune things, but they certainly deserve a pat on the back for the suggestion.
