Welcome to ShadowClan This topic is to assist members new and old in learning about ShadowClan when joining the site/making a new character, or just simply if people want to know more about ShadowClan's information. Below is info on everything you need to know about the cats who roam the marshes at night. Enjoy!
Characteristics:ShadowClan cats have various characteristics physically, but at their base they value stealth and cunning. Able to safely
(for the most part) traverse the treacherous marshes that dot their territory even in the darkest nights, they are steady and careful. Countless generations of performing duties at night have resulted in especially keen night vision, and exceptional skill in navigating the territories under the veil of night. They use this to their advantage, striking out from the cover of darkness and shadows with calculated skill to overcome opponents.
Territory:ShadowClan's territory is mainly marshland, with water rising above the paws in most area. The land is dotted with small high grounds which offers some periodic relief to cats roaming the area. Certain areas, like the
Deep Marshes and
Carrionplace, can be particularly dangerous (and occasionally fatal) to those who are unfamiliar or fail to exercise caution. The
Pine Grove is one of the few larger areas that is free of the marshes that comprise most of the territory. The
camp is a hollow hidden within the marshes by layers of brambles.
Territory Bonuses:Carrionplace - +2 bonus damage on Mud Slap only during the day
Deep Marsh - +2 bonus to herb hunt rolls
Pine Grove - +2 bonus to hunting chances for each prey type

A passive boost that grants +1 damage to each attack dealt only if attacking at night.
Mud Slap (Special, Stun) - Slap mud into your opponent’s eyes, temporarily blinding them. Stuns opponents for 1 turn. Usable only in wet areas.
Current Clan Relations (Alliance/Rivalry):ShadowClan is currently
neutral among four of the five clans, partaking in no alliances; though tensions and rivalries have been high with WindClan to varying degrees ever since the end of their ill-fated alliance.
Inner Rules:Kits are not allowed out of camp. Any cat caught assisting a kit in leaving camp will not be allowed to attend the next Gathering, and will be put on elder duty for one week as punishment. Any attempts made to sneak out of camp, either alone or with a group, must utilize the camp invasion dice to determine the success of sneaking out of camp unnoticed.
Elders and Queens must be accompanied outside of camp by at least one (1) warrior. Any elders and/or queens caught outside of camp alone will be required to remain in camp for two weeks. Any attempts made to sneak out of camp, either alone or without a proper accompaniment, must utilize the camp invasion dice to determine the success of sneaking out of camp unnoticed.
Apprentices are not allowed outside of camp alone. Any apprentice caught outside of camp alone will have their warrior ceremony pushed back one week as punishment. Any attempts made to sneak out of camp alone must utilize the camp invasion dice to determine the success of sneaking out of camp unnoticed.
Disputed Territories, the Thunderpath, and Carrionplace are off-limits to Elders and Queens. This is for their own safety, as these areas are... Well, dangerous. Warriors assigned to accompany them should help steer them away from these areas. Any elders and/or queens caught in these areas will be required to remain in camp for one month. Any warrior accompanying them that allowed them to be in such a dangerous area will not be allowed to attend the next Gathering, and will be required to remain in camp for two weeks.
Overview:Leopardstar’s priority is that ShadowClan is a self-sufficient community, and that while they should not stir up trouble with the other Clans (and ideally should remain on neutral-to-friendly terms) they should be primarily concerned with themselves.
Acceptance Policies:Leopardstar does not believe in judging cats for their circumstances, but rather their actions: so long as they don’t appear to pose an immediate threat, any cat who wishes will be offered a chance to prove themselves as a member of ShadowClan. The circumstances vary somewhat based on age and where they originally came from.
Kits are always welcome, though an effort will be made to find their kin. Outsider kits accepted into ShadowClan are to be treated as any ShadowClan cat.
Apprentice and warrior-aged cats will be accepted conditionally with a trial period. They will only be considered as full members of ShadowClan once two ShadowClan cats confirm that they have adjusted to life in the marsh and are willing to personally vouch for them.
Clan-hopping cats wishing to join ShadowClan will need to attend a meeting with both Leopardstar and their own leader.
Exiled Clan cats will be expected to make a case for themselves and explain their situation. Whether or not they are accepted into ShadowClan depends on Leopardstar’s judgment.
- Full Adult Cat Reqs to Join:
1. A clan meeting, where the outsider will have to declare their name and where they came from, along with any notable things from their past that may have an effect on the clan (ex. "hey yeah so I murdered a RiverClan cat moons ago, don't know their name, but... yeah").
2. The rules of the clan and an explanation of the trial period and expectations will be explained to the outsider, and they will be asked if they agree to them.
3. A mentor will be assigned to the outsider from the pool of highest tiered warriors. They will not be allowed into the territory without their mentor through a one month trial period
4. In this time, they will be expected to participate in at least one hunt and battle on the clan's behalf. They will not be allowed to attend any Gatherings until these conditions are met.
5. Once all conditions are met, they will be brought in front of the clan once more. Their assigned mentor will be asked if they feel that the outsider is suitable for officially joining the clan.
6. The meeting will be opened to the Clan, and they will be asked if they feel the newcomer has adjusted to life in ShadowClan. If at least two ShadowClan cats personally vouch for them without significant opposition, the outsider is accepted and named a full warrior of ShadowClan, and is invited to the next Gathering to be officially recognized as a new warrior. Any cats who oppose them will be asked for an explanation, and if they offer valid points (not just "he smells funny") then the outsider will either be denied and turned away or offered another opportunity to prove themselves.
Should a cat fail to join ShadowClan, or decide that they aren't suited for life in the marsh after all, they will be escorted to the edge of the territory with a warning that they aren't welcome to return and will be chased off on sight. Trespassers will be treated with extreme prejudice.

Forbidden Romances:Ideally, cats should look for love within their own Clan. That said, these things happen, and Leopardstar doesn’t want to be unreasonably harsh. In general, cats who have engaged in forbidden romances will be spoken to personally and given what she views as a suitable punishment depending on whether they’re found out or admit to it themselves. Should their mate wish to join ShadowClan, they will be subject to the acceptance policy.
Should the cat in question wish instead to leave ShadowClan, Leopardstar will request to meet with the other Clan’s leader. If the other leader is receptive, she will allow the warrior to leave, with the understanding that they are expected to cut all ties with ShadowClan and will be treated as any other outsider from that point on.
If neither cat is willing to leave their Clan, it is expected that the relationship is ended.
War:Leopardstar prefers to keep things peaceful, and would generally rather talk things out than jump into a fight. However, if talking doesn’t work or if someone else attacks first, the Clan will be asked to vote either for or against going to war; and to discuss their reasoning. Wherever possible, Leopardstar will defer to the Clan's judgment on whether they should retaliate.
