Oakshade for Shadow(realm)Clan NPC Elder:

Oak's birth happened during Leopardstar's time as leader, which was many, many moons ago. He was born to two pure-blooded warriors of ShadowClan. His mother, Brookstone, and his father, Toadsong, had lost two other kits before him. He was never told their names as it brought unbearable pain to his parents to even mention them. Even as a kit, he could tell in how much hurt they were in. They tried their best to raise him as they'd attempted with the others but it didn't last long. After beginning his apprenticeship, they slowly began to distance themselves. They feared that he wouldn't make it to warriorhood so they didn't want to attach themselves to him. It felt like a blow to his chest but he kept his head high. He wanted to prove them wrong. He was desperate to see the love in their eyes for him. He was so desperate in fact that he passed out from exhaustion on numerous occasions from pushing himself too far. It all paid out in the end as his big day came. To their guilt-ridden surprise, he proudly received his warrior name, Oakshade. It was a strong name for a strong tom.

During the first few moons after his ceremony, he finally learned of the tragic death of his older siblings from one of the senior warriors. The eldest, Copperpaw, had met her untimely end in the jaws of a vicious dog. Brookstone had been there with her when they were attacked by the beast. She did her very hardest to keep the dog's attention on her but fate would prove to be cruel as it knocked her away, stunning her for a few moments, before leaping and taking a hard hold on Copper. It bounded away never to be spotted again. Poor Copper was presumed dead. His mother lived with the horrid guilt ever since. It ate her up inside and no matter what others tried, they could never cheer her up. Young Lynxpaw's death certainly didn't help. He had barely received his mentor, just a few moons behind Copper, when tragedy struck once again for the family. Struck it did as a monster that had strayed off the Thunderpath had killed Lynx and injured his mentor. Toadsong was one of the first to know and it ultimately caused him a breakdown. The family, now devoid of any kits, was starting to believe they had been cursed by StarClan. They were starting to believe that StarClan may be angry with them for being mates. Those depressing thoughts were put on hold after Oakkit was born. Instead of happiness, they felt pure dread. This could be their third loss. They weren't taking any risks so they tried their hardest to protect him from anything and everything during his first moons of life. After all this knowledge was given to Oakshade, the slight resentment he had been feeling for his parents had suddenly dissipated. He felt a bit guilty and he was ready to make it right.

It didn't take long for he and his parents to mend the rift between them. In fact, they even went hunting together as a family directly after. For the first time in his existence, he finally witnessed real smiles coming from the two most important cats in his life. Things went smoother after that. All throughout his time as a warrior, Oak was a witness to many events such as the rise and fall of leaders, the harsh wrath of nature, the cruel ways of the Twolegs, and the spilled blood during the times of war between clans. He had laughed and cried. He had loved and he had lost. He had trained and he had been trained. There were very little things he'd yet to have seen in his lifetime. The loss of his parents hurt him the most. He got through his lowest moments by giving his all to his clan and never straying his eyes too far from StarClan. It didn't take long for him to retire from his warrior duties after a severe accident on the Thunderpath left his right back leg mangled beyond repair and his right eye with barely any vision left. He had felt useless but deep within himself he knew he had served his clan well. He became an elder with his head held high and dignity fully intact. There was no shame in retiring. He lived a fulfilling life after all.

Present day, he enjoys being a teller of stories and a giver of wisdom to those who needs them. It soothes him knowing that ShadowClan is still prospering well. There may be some tough moons here and there but they'll bounce back. They always do. Everyone who's ever crossed paths with him has been ingrained into his memories. He loves to learn little facts about 'em all. One of his greatest assets is that he almost never forgets. He'd be devastated the day he'd lose even a sliver of his precious memories. He hopes to one day see his family and friends again but for now, he's very content here with the clan he loves with his whole being. He'll serve as their resident jolly old fool until the day StarClan calls for him.
