Dawnkit's Apprentice Ceremony

The early morning air was crisp and cold, and a fresh layer of snow blanketed the camp, mostly unmarred by the paws of the clan. Wolfcall sat in the entrance of the warriors' den, long tail curled around his body and across his toes. The deputy had only just returned to camp after a long night out, and he was longing for a nap, but first, he had something to do - another apprentice ceremony! Stifling a yawn, Wolfcall stood and shook his body from ears to tail, sucking in a long breath to wake himself up. Then he crossed the camp, springing up onto the Tallbranch and scraping the snow away with his paws until there was enough space to sit. "Let all cats old enough to climb trees gather beneath the Tallbranch for a clan meeting!"

Dawnkit was soundly asleep, she had been up all night playing mossball with the other kits, it was so much fun that she didn't want to stop. The only reason she did stop was, her apprentice ceremony would be the next day. Dawnkit was pretty nervous on how she would be as an apprentice, she was worried that she wouldn't be enough for her clan and would end up disappointing her clan.

When she heard the call for the meeting, she anxiously followed behind all the kit's and tried to stay hidden from Wolfcall's site, she wasn't sure if she was ready to become an apprentice..

Waiting until the clan had finished for the most part gathering below him, Wolfcall smiled, noticing Dawnkit's not-quite-successful attempt to creep behind the other cats and go unnoticed. He shook his head, tail flicking in amusement. The fiery little she-kit was amusing, and even if she was a pawful it made Wolfcall even more satisfied with the decision he'd made for her mentor. "Dawnkit, please step forward," he said firmly, meeting her eye with a good-natured smirk.

"You have reached the age of six moons, and it's time for you to be an apprentice. From this day forward, until you earn your warrior name, you will be known as Dawnpaw. Your mentor will be..." Wolfcall hesitated there, a tiny flicker of uncertainty halting his words. "Me." The deputy slid gracefully down from the branch, padding forward to touch noses with his new apprentice. "Eat something solid, and rest for the remainder of the morning - training starts at sunhigh."
