If a single word defined Sedge's existence, it would be love.  It bleeds from her in almost any situation, from interacting with others to her choices in life, and especially being within nature.  Sedge is a true optimist, believing that in any situation out there there's at least a little bit of good, and even the darkest villains must have a hint of light in them somewhere.  Just like the single resilient flower that pops through the snow after a blizzard, her hope in the good of others keeps going through any trial, and she believes that with enough love and support both from yourself and others, you can get through anything.  She will always encourage someone who looks down and out, no matter if they know her or not.  Sedge is carefree and curious, loving to explore and find both new and beautiful things.  While not outright rebellious, there are just some rules that don't make any sense to her, and in the spur of the moment might ignore them for the sake of her own or someone else's happiness, though she'll likely feel quite guilty afterward.  To her though, the world is a wonderous place of endless discovery and beauty, and she wants to do her part to make sure there is always something new to experience.  She is very creative and whimsical, seeing magnificent masterpieces in everything (even the tiniest leaf) and creating stories in her mind as to how they came to be, and how they came to land at her paws.  She talks to herself when alone, which some might see as cause for worry, but in reality, she just becomes so overtaken by her excitement and fantastical thoughts there's no way she could possibly hold them in!  Sometimes she doesn't even know she's talking, and when lost in her mysterious world it's easy to sneak up on her.  She also loves to create stories of cats who don't exist, imagining tragic tales of forbidden lovers, of cats taken too soon by the forces of evil, kind leaders who led their cats to victory, and so many more.  She's an excellent storyteller when she gets into the zone, and will often volunteer to entertain kits - or anyone who will listen.  However, this storytelling tendency also causes her to dream up scenarios she wishes were true, sometimes inventing whole imaginary cats to fulfill her dreams.  There will come the day when someone questions if she truly knows the line between fantasy and reality, and at least to her, the obvious answer is yes.  Of course, she knows her stories aren't real, but that doesn't mean they can't make her happy.  

In truth, sometimes Sedge is embarrassed of her personality, and if someone were to point out her biggest failing it would make her feel like curling up into her shell - if she was a turtle that is.  Her deepest fear is that she won't be able to become what she's expected to be; a good warrior.  Sedge likes some parts of her training, like learning how to run like with wild breeze and attending Gatherings to meet new cats, but she's hopeless at fighting.  She hates hurting other creatures even if it helps her friends and family, and that includes prey.  Hunting is a struggle for her, and even though she tries to hide it she comes close to crying every time she has to kill another beautiful creature.  She copes by praying over her departed friend, wishing them well on their way to the stars, and often doesn't eat anything she catches.  (She also does the same for the kills of other cats she eats.)  She feels the same for predators as well, but she can easily put aside her sorrow if her clan is in danger.  Despite all this though, it is an easy possibility that some cats will see her as weak-willed and soft for her kindness, and maybe she is.  However, it will be hard for Sedge to accept her differences, even though she knows it's the only way she wants to live.  This doesn't mean that Sedge lacks confidence though; in fact, her willingness to speak her mind boldly and often very bluntly is bound to be a shock.  If there is one thing she can't stand its cats who think they're better than everyone else,  from just being arrogant to the tyrants of the world.  Petty insults, as well as cutting ones, wind her up, and she will jump to the defense of anyone suffering from them, especially herself.  If you tease Sedge for how she thinks plants have feelings or that she wears flowers in her fur, don't be surprised if you hear your own insecurities shouted back at you.  She won't hide her true feelings for long and is able to read a cat's emotions and faces like a book; however, she often doesn't intend to be mean or rude.  All she really wants is to make sure they know how to stop being mean themselves, and that it's not okay to treat other cats that way.  She's not above holding grudges though, and gladly will if she receives no apology.  She can be very stubborn when it comes to standing by her word but isn't above being able to see if she perhaps might've made a mistake, and will apologize if so.  

Her lack of filter though goes both ways; often, if she really likes or wants to get to know someone, she will shower them with odd compliments, such as how their eyes resemble newly-bloomed buttercups shimmering with morning dew, or even gifting them meaningful presents such as pretty stones and weaved flowers.  It's a gamble how the cat will respond to such remarks and gestures, but either they like it or they don't, and if she gets rejected Sedge will most likely be very sad.  Any bout of sorrow usually doesn't last too long though.  Most of the time, she doesn't see other cats as superiors or subordinates or outsiders, but rather just...cats!  Everyone has fur and claws and a heart, and she wants to make them happy, even if she'd get in trouble for doing so.  Sedge always seems to have just enough energy, even after a whole day of running around and finding new treasures to keep in her hidden nooks, and if she promises to do something she'll do her darn best to keep her word, even if the request is way outside her abilities.  She's hardworking when she's not distracted by butterflies and birdsong, and committed to the things she loves.  Unfourtantly, her kindness, and an open heart are relatively easy to take advantage of, though she's not naive.  She'll know if a cat is trying to manipulate her but will often try to help them be better rather than just ditch them, which can lead to a tendency to overwhelm and neglect herself for the sake of others.  No matter how much she wishes it, a lot of the time her ideas aren't quite practical; paying the other clans in flower rings isn't going to stop all war, but it's the heart that counts.  If her ideas and efforts go wrong, or even just her friends not having time to hang out at the moment, Sedge takes a lot of things personally, and will sometimes reflect the results of her advice and love as proof of her worth, for good or bad.  She can be seen as a bit sensitive, but will often bounce back after talking out her feelings.  Sedge has a pretty bad case of glossophobia, which is the fear of public speaking.  She does perfectly fine in front of small groups, but speaking to the whole clan or sharing her views at a clan meeting makes her heart almost stop.  She prefers quiet, intimate settings to share her wonderful stories and ideas, and though she's a friend to all only a few cats are truly close to her and understand everything about her.  Truly, Sedge wants to leave an impact by being the best cat she can possibly be, embracing everything around her as living breathing souls with stories to tell, and searching the world for fellow kindred spirits to find love in and to give love to.
