I used to see this date coming every year, counting down weeks ahead of time as it lurched toward me. Nowadays it tends to just sneak up on me. Last year I was a couple days late, but I was starting at the date on a worksheet today when the significance clicked in my mind. By the time I'd clocked off and got home, I'd almost forgotten again. But I still log in every day out of pure compulsive habit, always the first window I open, skim the homepage, and more often than not, click out of the tab thirty seconds later. It's my way of popping in and saying I'm still here, and that I could never truly leave, even though I'm always absent.
Somebody born on the day I registered would be in the actual reading demographic for Warriors. The average user age has skewed up since my heyday, but it's entirely possible that if you're reading this and you're not in junior high yet, I've lingered on this forum longer than you've been alive. Thousands of internet drifters have passed through here, and most of them don't stay longer than a week or two, but I still remember the ones that did, friends I'll always hold onto, friends I still talk to now, and the couple dozen who probably left hating my guts.
There always comes a day where someone logs out and never logs back on, and I always wonder if they still remember the long nights on the chatbox, times we skipped school just so we had more hours in the day to RP, or if it just slipped away, or if they'd prefer to forget. One day, maybe eighty years from now, maybe sooner than that, I guess I'll disappear from this site too. I guess this whole thing is just my testament, that I do think about you all every day, and I'll always remember the good times, and the bad times. WCC is my real home. And I wish there was a better way to express how much I care outside of sappy blocks of texts once a year, but I've never been good at that, so I just log in and log back out every day.
