The prologue does a good job of giving character backgrounds, and the first chapter does a good job of setting the tone.

I'm sure I could find some minor flaws if I tried, but I'm not in a nitpicky mood at the moment, so I'll leave it at that. And if there are any, they were minor enough that I didn't notice them my first time through, which is another plus!
