Scorchkit's Apprentice Ceremony

"Let all cats old enough to hunt their own prey, gather beneath the willow branch for a clan meeting." It's been a while since he last gathered his clan for an apprentice ceremony but the tom didn't feel nervous anymore. He was standing in the Willow Branch without trembling or looking at his clanmates with sheepish eyes. However, he still didn't feel comfortable but at least he was now able to overcome his shyness and speak clearly so Scorhkit could have his ceremony and a mentor.

Scorchkit's heart beat fast in his chest. The tabby tom had already reached the age of six moons, and he had the feeling that this must be his apprentice ceremony. He gave himself a few hasty licks, trying to make himself look as presentable as possible just in case he was right. Looking up at the RiverClan deputy on the Willow Branch, Scorchkit waited patiently for Jaystream to continue speaking.

"Scorchkit, you have reached the age of six moons, and now it is time for you to be apprenticed. From now on you will be known as Scorchpaw until the day you're ready to become a warrior. Your mentor will be Sweetheart, a young but loyal cat that will teach everything you need to be a warrior. I hope you can learn a lot from her." With that being said, the deputy finished the ceremony and left the branch, joining the celebration of the new apprentice. He knew that for the she-cat this was her first apprentice but he was sure that she would take good care of Scorchpaw. After all, she was always so kind with everybody and it shouldn't be different with the newly named apprentice.

Stepping forward, the newly named Scorchpaw touched noses with his mentor Sweetheart. Excitement, slight nervousness, as well as pride at his new name filled his heart. As he touched noses with his mentor, Scorchpaw wondered what life as an apprentice would be like for him.

Delighted, Sweetheart purred as she looked down at the apprentice. He had the same name as her crush. Was that coincidental, or?... She pushed the thought away. That didn't matter now. She had an apprentice to train in the ways of the Clan, and she swore to do her very best for the young apprentice.
