Training with Birdpaw [closed]

Shadowleaf waited at the entrance of Thunderclan camp for her first apprentice. She never expected to get one anytime soon especially since she joined Thunderclan not too long ago, but it seemed Blizzardstar had faith in her to train Birdpaw.

Birdpaw hurried to the camp entrance. Her mentor Shadowleaf was waiting there to start training. She saw the warrior seated at the entrance. She walked up to her with a bounce in her step. "Hello Shadowleaf!"she greeted. "I'm ready to start training!" She said happily. She had an excited expression on her face.

Shadowleaf nodded. "Today we are just going to be doing a border patrol. Nothing to exciting." She just wanted to start with something easy, and move on to the hunting and the fighting later on. The white and gray she cat stood. "Come on let's go. We will be heading to the Shadowclan border first." The former hunter told the apprentice.

Birdpaw followed Shadowleaf to the Shadowclan border. She was ready and eager to learn about anything.

Soon they arrived at the Shadowclan border, the gray and white she-cat wasn't quite used to smelling the monsters, and the Shadowclan scent. She could tell a difference but it still smelled pretty bad. "What do you smell Birdpaw?" The warrior asked her apprentice.

OOC: I'll try to make it better XD

At Shadowleaf's question, Birdpaw took a couple sniffs. Her nose crinkled at the scents that seemed foul to her nose. "Umm I kind of smell scents of other cats. That's a Shadowclan cat smell I think." She squinted her eyes at the second scent that was much more overpowering. "I also smell something really bad." She turned to look at her mentor. "What's the other smell?" she asked.

"That's the thunderpath." She was glad that the apprentice was able to know the Shadowclan smell. "The Thunderpath is really dangerous and holds these monsters that will kill a cat without a second thought." She was still getting used to the clan's terms for these things. "It's that black strip on the ground over there, but we don't need to get any closer."

Birdpaw took a couple glances at the thunderpath before directing her gaze to Shadowleaf. "Have you ever seen a monster really close?" she asked.

"On my journey to the territories there were plenty of close calls. I would rather not get close again if I can help it." Shadowleaf said to her apprentice. Her amber eyes turned away from the Thunderpath and towards Riverclan territory. "Come on, we need to go check the Riverclan border." The gray and white she cat said as she padded away from the Shadowclan border.

Birdpaw let all that her mentor had said sink into her head. She followed close behind Shadowleaf as they headed to the Riverclan border. She was happy that she got to learn and see more than she ever had.

Once they arrived at the border, the river was the first thing that was noticeable. Shadowleaf didn't mind being close to the river, even if it meant getting wet somewhat. "Alright what do you smell now Birdpaw?" Hopefully she could figure out Riverclan scent like she did with Shadowclan. They would head back after this.

Birdpaw took a couple of sniffs similar to the last time. She scrunched her nose a bit. She still didn't like the scent of the other clans. Shadowclan's smell was horrible compared to Riverclan's. The river smelled fresh and suprisingly pleasant. She looked at the river before turning to Shadowleaf. "I smell...what I think is..." she took another sniff before continuing on, "A Riverclan cat's scent." She looked skeptical and looked at her mentor to see if she was at least kind of correct.

Shadowleaf took the scent in herself. "Yeah there was certainly a Riverclan cat that came by not too long ago. Good." The Skyclan border could be left for another day, they already did a lot of walking and it was getting late. "Come lets head back to camp and get something to eat." The gray and white she-cat said. With a flick of her tail she was on the way back to camp.

She let out a breath as she had gotten it right. Seeing that they were done for the day, she followed Shadowleaf back to camp. She was secretly tired but she'd never let that show.
