Archer was delighted by the news, "Seriously?" he stammered, "why are we still here then?" he demanded sharply; he was incredibly happy that his Jessie was awake, he was terrified that he would loose her.

"Whoa whoa whoa! Slow down! Mis Sadie said we could visit her after the karaoke night." James said.

"I don't know if I can wait that long!" Archer stammered, "Imagine if it were Jamie in that hospital, all on her own, no one to hold her," he speculated.

James put his hands up.

Archer understood what his friend was saying, but he didn't like that he couldn't go to Jessie.

James sighed and looked towards the stage waiting for Jamie and Natalie to start their singing battle.

Archer looked at James, "So?" he said coolly.

James shrugged.

"You could say that. Which song shall we sing?" Natalie tried to reply in an even voice, but she had not anticipated this occurrence. She felt a mixture of fear, frustration, anxiety, pride, glee, and some other strange feeling that she couldn't quite identify.

"How about a little country? Somethin' Bad by Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood? I'll sing Carrie's part and you can sing Miranda's?" she suggested.

Archer, "What's up with you and Jamie?" he asked with a sly smile.

James smiled. "I dunno. We kissed but that's about it. Well how about you and my sister?" He said smirking.

Archer puffed out his chest and put his best macho face, "Yeah, we're pretty serious," he stated hoarsely.

"Okay, you choosing will make this fair for both of us. Somethin' Bad it is then." Natalie confirmed, voice reaching her desired level of coldness. She felt confident she would win, but if she lost... She didn't want to think about defeat quite yet.

The cheesy DJ smiled, "Alright, these two ladies will battle to Somethin' Bad, here we go!" he shouted out to the silent crowd. Jamie snatched up her mic and walked to the left side of the stage, she pressed it to her lips and then sang, Stand one the box, stomp your feet stomp start clappin, got a real good feelin somethin bad's about to happen. She sang in sync with Natalie.

During the chorus, Natalie stomped and clapped with the words. After the chorus was finished, Natalie started on the first verse, trying to sound like Miranda Lambert. Pulled up to the church but I got so nervous, had to back it on up, couldn’t make it to the service. Grabbed all the cash underneath my mattress, Got a real good feelin’ something bad about to happen. Natalie sang the verse, waiting for Jamie to continue with the next one. She kind of hoped Jamie would make a mistake, so that she could upstage her, but she also kind of hoped she didn't mess up so that the whole song could be great.
