The Mystic Forest [Game!]

Ancient tales speak of a mythical forest, a forest in which no living creature can enter or leave on their own. However, every once in a while some cats may be guided to this place by those who no longer can be found roaming the Earth, spirits so ancient that no cat remembers their names or how they looked like before they joined the ranks of the dead, and consequently are just called “The Ancients”. These spirits don’t care for rank, loyalties, clan or past, so their choices are always a complete mystery to the living and even the cats that live between the stars or in the eternal darkness. Some say that they only chose those who are their descendants, some say that they chose based on personality, some say that they see in the cats things that not even StarClan can see…versions change from cat to cat, but the truth will be never known.

Cats who wander there at first feel at peace. They are guided to a camp with what appears to be a never-ending fresh kill pile that never rots, a pond in the middle of the camp with clean and refreshing water, dens with comfortable nests fitting for cats of all ages and sizes. Overall it looks, and feels, as though it is a wondrous place just as good if not even better than StarClan’s territory itself. Until, that is, that all of them realize that they have been pulled into a deathtrap.

As spoken in old prophecies, cats are only drawn to this specific forest through a song when the fate of the world they live in must be determined. Most cats drawn to this place come to defend the world as they know it, fighting alongside the Ancients whose home is between the fading stars, but there is a small group gathered by the Ancients whose home is in the deepest corners of the place where no stars will ever shine, gathered to kill those that are loyal to the stars and claim the land in name of the corrupted ones that are condemned to never see the light again. There, however are rumors of two cats that won’t take a side, guided to this place by the Ancients that couldn’t chose a side before their deaths and now wander alone in a place between the two.

The task won’t be easy. Those destined to defend the stars know that they must stay together and trust each other to survive and come out victorious, but how can they when is impossible to tell an enemy apart from a friend in this place? Those who kill for whatever reason are careful and will only leave one or two clues behind, making catching them a true challenge as well.

The Ancients are singing their song once again. Will you answer the call?






Everyone who joins will be PMed their respective roles once enough cats join / the max cat limit is reached.


StarClan Loyalists (8-13 cats in total):

Regular StarClan cat: A cat drawn to this place by the Ancients that inhabit the faraway places of the sky, between stars that are slowly fading but refuse to leave completely. They are the ones that must look for clues that will lead them to the Dark Forest loyalists and try to lynch them before they kill them off. No especial abilities will be granted to these cats.
Medicine Cat: A cat that knows of herbs and knows how to heal their allies. Even if the cat wasn’t a medicine cat from where they originally came, this knowledge will be granted as a blessing from the Ancients so it can carry on with the task. Each night they can pick one cat to heal, including themselves. This will avoid death for the chosen cat, regardless of how many times other cats try to kill them during the night. If the same cat is chosen in two nights in a row there will be a chance of failure though, and these will increase the more times that cat is chosen consecutively. A Medicine Cat won’t be able to protect the cat if they were voted to die by lynch. You may send a PM to the narrator between stories to tell them which cat is the one you want to heal.
Prophet: (12 or more total cats must join the round to unlock this especial role!) The spirit of an Ancient will always follow this cat around, and the only one that will be able to see or hear it will be the prophet itself. However, this Ancient is rater secretive and will only speak to the prophet once per night. The prophet may ask the Ancient once per night the role of a cat and the Ancient will answer the question (Aka. Sending a PM to the narrator asking about a certain cat). However, the prophet knows that they can’t reveal who they are, or else the Ancient will abandon them and their role will be revealed to the rest of the cats, leaving them open for an attack to keep their mouth closed for good.
The Vigilante: (16 or more total cats must join the round to unlock this especial role!) A cat who was blessed with great skill at hunting and fighting. This cat will take justice on their own paws with the goal of finding and killing the ones that threaten the forest’s peace. Ancients will mask the identity of the cat while they attack and leave no clues behind, however, their power is not flawless, and if someone looks close enough clues may be found. The vigilante must be extremely careful though, since if he kills 3 innocent cats the Ancients will feel betrayed and his identity will be revealed. The Vigilante may PM the narrator between stories the name of a cat to kill it during the night, killing is optional though.
The Star’s Child: (20 total cats must join the round to unlock this special role!) The Ancients feel a special compassion for this specific cat, and to protect them they granted them an extra life! This mean that if killed, this cat will revive, though if killed a second time the cat will die for good. However there is a catch: When reviving there is a chance that the Ancients of the Darkness will convince this cat that they were abandoned by the Ancients of the Stars, causing them to switch sides! The chances are as follow: 10% if killed by a Dark Forest loyalist, 25% if killed by lynch/SK, 50% if killed by the vigilante. If changed to the Dark Forest side, they will be notified.


Dark Forest Loyalists (2-5 cats in total):

Regular Dark Forest loyalist: A cat drawn to this place by the Ancients that inhabit the darkest places of the Dark Forest. They are the ones that must try to kill the StarClan loyalists before they discover them, as well as the SK. No especial abilities will be granted to these cats. All the Dark Forest loyalists know who each other are, but they don’t know the roles of the StarClan loyalists, Sk and rogue.
Leader: This cat was granted the role of leader by the Ancients and is the responsible to lead the discussion of which cat may be killed during the night. A leader may also have a secondary special role, and if killed another Dark Forest loyalist will replace them. Ancients will mask the identity of the cats while they attack and leave no clues behind, however, their power is not flawless, and if someone looks close enough clues may be found. The leader may PM the narrator between stories the name of a cat that him and the other Dark Forest loyalists decided to kill during the night, killing is optional though.
Seducer: (15 or more total cats must join the round to unlock this especial role!) This cat was blessed with a powerful silver tongue by the Ancients, and once a day they may convince another cat to rethink their choice and vote towards another cat, or vote against that cat if they decided to not lynch anyone in the first place. That means that the seducer may PM the narrator with the name of the cat whose vote they wish to change, and the new target. This will not show on the official vote count.
Mad Medicine Cat: (20 total cats must join the round to unlock this special role!) Just like with the medicine cat on StarClan’s side, this cat was blessed with knowledge of herbs and the ability to heal one cat of their choice per night. However, unlike them, their blessing’s nature is corrupt and consequently it came with a catch…it made them completely insane! This means that the cat not only can heal, but also kill the targeted cat! This can come in handy if they want to kill a StarClan cat, but, unluckily for them, they can’t control what they are doing, meaning that there will be a random 50/50 chance of either killing or healing their target. The Mad medicine cat may PM the narrator between stories the name of the targeted cat. Be warned though! If the targeted cat dies clues of the murder will be left behind. Also, unlike the normal medicine cat, they can’t pick the same cat twice in a row. On the good side, if the target is healed instead of killed and it wasn’t a Dark Forest loyalist, the role of the cat will be revealed to the mad medicine cat.


Neutral Roles:

Serial Killer: (13 or more total cats must join the round to unlock this especial role!) This cat was guided here by an Ancient that didn’t believe in StarClan nor the Dark Forest, but was definitely evil and even somewhat insane, passing down these traits to the cat it dragged here. The only goal of this cat and also the only way for them to win is to kill everyone else and be the last one standing. The Ancient will mask the identity of the cat while they attack and leave no clues behind, however, their power is not flawless, and if someone looks close enough clues may be found. The SK may PM the narrator between stories the name of a cat to kill it during the night, killing is optional though.
Rogue: (15 or more total cats must join the round to unlock this especial role!) This cat was guided here by an Ancient that didn’t believe in StarClan nor the Dark Forest. The only goal of this cat is to survive, regardless if they win alongside the Dark Forest Loyalists, the StarClan loyalists or completely in their own. They don’t have special abilities.
Mates: (20 total cats must join the round to unlock this special role!) These to cats are deeply in love with each other. They can be anyone, which means that it's possible for the lovers to be on different sides. The Lovers will start the game knowing who the other is, but not their role. They win if they are the last two cats alive (or if they're both on the same side and their side wins.) If one lover dies, the other will die out of sadness as well.


OOC:

Narrator: The one that sends the roles, counts the votes, receives he PMs regarding the choices of the special roles and is in charge of writing and posting the stories that will give away the clues for the other players to pick up. Fairly self-explanatory. (I’ll be the narrator this round, so don’t worry about it)






1. The cat you enter has to exist. Unborn cats do not yet exist.
2. After you have entered your cat with the form I’ll provide later and the round starts, please don't edit it in any way. This helps prevent confusion from having to change the story and clues.
3. You may change your chosen cat at any time you want before the round, however, once it starts your cat will be locked.
4. If you enter a kit, the rank will be raised to almost warrior-aged apprentice, and if you enter an elder it will be lowered to Senior Warrior. This is mostly to make things somewhat believable, since I don’t think that a –kit would be able to kill a –star.
5. You can enter a dead cat and even pre-reboot cats! Old users that no longer rp here but still like to come and chat may do this as well if they decide to join. These cats will have the rank they owned before their death/the reboot unless they were either a kit or elder, in which case the rule of above will apply.
6. Narrators can’t enter their own cats to the game, as it would be unfair given that they know all the roles. Also trying to convince a narrator in any way to give out information is forbidden and may result in your cat being insta-killed in the game.
7. Please try to be online at least once per story, having active players really helps everyone. Players that are inactive without notice may be killed off and any special roles will be moved to other players if no notice of inactivity is given. (If you miss more than two stories without letting the narrator know, you risk having your character killed)
8. Please don't reveal your role in any way. This includes on signatures, in the game thread, or through PMs outside of the game (some roles will know each other from the start). This just makes you a target so it's really not that good of an idea anyway. Also all roles but the narrator one are given out completely at random.
9. The voting deadline is one week after each story post unless specified otherwise in a specific instance. Also, lynching isn’t obligatory, so you can pick “No Lynch” if you feel like it.
10. If you would like to reserve a spot because you are on a device that makes joining difficult (e.g. a phone, 3DS etc.) you can. Bear in mind however, that your spot may be re-opened to everyone if you have not entered a cat within 12 hours of posting your reservation.
11. You may enter only 1 cat. The game also has a minimum of 10 and a max of 20 cats that may be entered per round.
12. Do try to have fun, this is a game after all. Roleplaying is fine but try not to take the targeting or lynch voting too personally.
13. You are not allowed to ask outsiders (someone not entered in the game) to interfere with the game, e.g. ask someone to post in the forum and ask if the SK would like to join up with the Dark Forest. That is cheating and changes the game altogether. If you are someone not entered in the game, and you want to ask questions or chat, that's fine. But otherwise, please refrain from posting unless you're entered in the game.
14. The first voting session (the one that comes before the first story) doesn't involve a lynch. The first lynching happens after the first story. The special roles, however must send the narrator their PM if they wish to use their special abilities, this includes the DF kill.

Personality of cat: Punctual and practical. Has a strong belief in the warrior code and in rules. If something is irrational or seems unreal, she'll toss it aside and forget it. That is the reason why she has no belief in StarClan. She's not evil...she just doesn't believe that StarClan or the Dark Forest is real. She thinks that the only key to success is hard work. She doesn't really like being around kits, she thinks that they're immature. She judges everyone she meets and is cold around cats of other Clans.
