Mothpaw's Training/Patrol

As usual, Icestorm woke before sunup and gave a yawn. Giving his legs a good stretch, he padded to the apprentice den and peeped his head in. "Mothpaw, let's go!" He meowed happily. It would be nice getting out of camp and patrolling the territory.

Mothpaw had been eager to prove himself as much as could since his apprentice ceremony. The mottled chocolate tabby barely hesitated then when he heard Icestorm's call. Dawn was still young but the apprentice felt wide awake. "Where are we off to today?" he asked his mentor in between giving his chest fur a quick lick.

"Today, we'll be patrolling the borders and do a bit of hunting." He meowed with a smile, glad his apprentice was so eager to learn.

The young apprentice's eyes went wide with the prospect of doing a border patrol. Mothpaw felt a sense of pride of being able to defend WindClan territory. "Which border?" he asked, giving a flick of his tail. "Might we run into an enemy patrol? Will we be able to fight them? We can show them not to mess with WindClan!" he added, his fur fluffing up.

"Whoa there, don't bite off more than you can chew." Icestorm chuckled and started padding towards the camp entrance. "I don't think we'll run into an enemy patrol, although a little excitement would be nice. And if we did run into a patrol, you would probably run back to camp to tell Sablestar." He knew most apprentices were eager to fight, but in the end, fighting never ended well.

The apprentice hid his disappointment with a swish of his tail as he followed Icestorm to the camp entrance. Okay, so no enemy warriors today. Didn't mean he couldn't learn anything important anyway."Have you been in many battles?" he asked his mentor, amber eyes peering into the surroundings. Mothpaw perked his ears, alert for anything to suggest they weren't alone.

Icestorm shook his fur as the two walked and looked at Mothpaw when he asked a question. "I don't think I've actually been in any battles." Now that he'd thought about it, he'd never been in any serious battles. That's kinda disappointing. But now is not the time to feel sorry for yourself. Finally reaching the Thunderpath, the stopped and held his tail out for Mothpaw to stop as well. "Do you know what this is? It smells pretty bad, right?" The stench stung his nose and he had a hard time not backing away from the monster path.

Mothpaw was a bit taken aback that Icestorm hadn't really been in any battles. Though, he still suspected the older Tom would be an amazing fighter. Soon a putrid smell reached them and Mothpaw pulled to a halt. He wrinkled his nose in disgust. "Is this the Thunderpath?" he asked, recalling the queens mentioning it back at camp.

"Yes, it's the Thunderpath. Many cats have lost there live to this horrible place, so don't stray to far." He said sternly. He'd seen his fair share of ThunderPath accidents and never wanted to see something like that again. "Shall we move on or would you like to stay and smell the wonderful scent." He chuckled.
