Chapter 1
Sandpaw dashed through the sand dunes, paws sinking into the ground with every leap. In his jaws he carried a fish. Sandpaw's eyes sparkled with pride for his catch. He whisked past a palm tree, only to stumble into Coconutflower, a she-cat with brown fur and a white under-belly. "Sorry." He mumbled with his prey-filled mouth. She shook her head in discust as Sandpaw continued running untill he reached camp.
He gazed down at PalmClan's camp. The camp was surrounded by palm trees and various sorts of tropical flora. The camp was busy as different patrols came in, kits played by the nursery... Sandpaw smiled in delight. He dashed down into the middle of camp and dropped his catch in the pile. He took a small crab from the pile and sat down beside the apprentices' den which was a small fern covered hollow. Flamingopaw, a creamy she-cat with a bright pink nose dozed inside.
As Sandpaw tore apart the crab, his mentor Wavestorm padded up. "Have you fed the elders yet?" He asked suspiciously.
Whoops! Thought Sandpaw. "Er- just getting to that!" He called as he ran off, leaving the remains of the crab covered in sand. Wavestorm sighed and went to go eat with the other senior warriors.
Sandpaw padded into the elders' den with a fish in his mouth. Milkygaze looked up. "Is that you, Sandpaw?" The blind elder asked.
"Yes, yes it's me." Sandpaw greeted. "Would you fancy a fish?" He asked him, blue eyes sparkling.
"Please." The pale elder mewed.
The light ginger apprentice trotted back to where he had left his meal by the apprentices' den. As soon as he sat down to finish, his friend Crabpaw came up. "Wavestorm asked if you would wanna come on a border patrol..." The rusty apprentice asked.
"You bet!" Sandpaw purred and swallowed the last bite. He got up and followed Crabpaw to where Wavestorm and Crabpaw's mentor, Desertpelt were waiting.
"Can we leave now?" Desertpelt asked.
"Yes!!" Both apprentices said in unison.
They looked at eachother with excitment as they started padding through the sand. As Sandpaw walked he admired the colourful flowers and plants. Finally, they reached the entrance to camp, a tall sand dune. The four cats padded up and over the dune, along a thin path of rocks. Sandpaw gazed over PalmClan's territory, stretching farther then the eye could see. His territory. The cats picked up speed as they descended the slope, leaving the camp in the dust.
