| All right. Here is a writing activity, one that I did in my English class and one that has been proposed by the writer of Dogstar. To do it is simple. Start by doing the following:
Write a description of your street in the summer. Make it a paragraph, at least 5 sentences, and be as descriptive as possible. Do not add people to your description. No people, no living things, just a straight-up seen description
After that, I'll give you your next set of directions. ______________________________________ i used to administrate but the man tore me down

| On a normal summer day, the stoned, neighborhood entrance sign has the words "Scottish Glen" engraved on it. There are lights hovering over the sign for when it gets dark so people can see the sign as either driving by or entering the neighborhood so they won't miss their turn because they couldn't see the sign. The model home is the first house in the neighborhood welcoming any owner that might be looking to buy a house that would be for sale in the neighborhood. As usual, there are at least a few houses for sell inside the neighborhood. The streets are flat with some bumps here and there because the road is unpaved. Some cars are parked next to the owner's house's driveway because the drive ways are short and sometimes narrow. Each mailbox in the neighborhood is black with the house's address number on it. The sidewalk is only on the right hand side of the neighborhood and even then there are some gaps where there is no sidewalk on the left or right hand side. Noises of tools such as power drills, saws, and hammers are often heard because there are still open lots for new houses to be built on. At the end of the neighborhood, there is a swimming pool for the neighborhood to use in the summer time. It is 3- 5 ft deep and is mostly crowded on weekends. You have to have a key to get in and out of the pool area but if you were really desperate enoguh the is short and has three ledges so it would be easy for anyone to climb over. |

| The sun blared down overhead, making the bland tan colors of the houses brighter. Trees, as sparely planted as they are, offered little shade to anyone walking home, as no one would be out midday during the summer. It was too hot. If one looked closely, they could see the heat radiating off the black tar of the road. Cascadas chattered endlessly, their sounds gradually fading into the background of anyone out doors. The bright blue sky showed no clouds in sight, although in the horizon, it is fuzzy due to the amount of dust in the air. Because it doesn't rain much or even at all in the 'Valley of the Sun' this time of the year, dust is picked up in the wind. Side walks sometimes collect such just when the wind is fast, so there are small patches of the grey sidewalk that is covered in a fine dust. Curved edges of the street gave way to driveways, and to the cool air condition houses. The houses themselves, despite strict HOA rules, have their own flare of personality. Some have flagstone pillars, supporting the patio that no one would dare to be under, even in the shade. Others, have contrasting colors compared to their neighbors'. All in all, the street is abandoned, no life to be heard besides the hoot of an owl hidden among the houses. ______________________________________ ✲Sleepycloud✲ || ✲Hopepaw✲ || ✲Lakekit✲ |

| Summer. Good ones are rare in this small village. However, when the warm long days of golden rays come about, this street becomes a sun-trap for those who are situated in it. The pot-hole filled stripe of small stones turns into an array of golds and browns, whites and greys. The grass that lines one side of this pebble lane is a luscious green, dappled by the shade cast from the bright leaves of bambo and you can often hear the faint chirp of crickets hiding amongst the vegetation blades. You can also hear the humble buzzing of bees, inhabited in a bee-hive placed in the center of the grass. However, on the other side drive-ways branch off, leading to one ancient brick cottage, a black and white three floored house and from the biggest brick path a limestone structure, the porch held up by two large pillars which would gleam white, basking under the radiating golden orb in the azure blue sky. Alas, when night falls the infinite blue turns to a navy-black, and the bees fall silent yet the crickets grow louder and louder until their cry can be heard through the whole neighbourhood. The moon, glowing stark against the star-spotted blackness, would send out its silver silk beams and illuminate the paths with its cool touch. This would also summon long shadows from the hedges, and short ones from the small stones - yet even bigger, glowering shadows being cast by the looming houses. This small street, peaceful and comforting, could turn into a spooky and sinister place by nightfall. ______________________________________ Ozymandias I met a traveller from an antique land, Who said—“Two vast and trunkless legs of stone Stand in the desert. | Okay. Now, next step. Everyone pick a sport, your favorite sport or any sport in general. List ten verbs pertaining to that sport. Any verbs. ______________________________________ i used to administrate but the man tore me down

| Final step: Rewrite the paragraph about your street. This time, though, you must use at least half the verbs you just listed. You still cannot have people or characters. Just describe a scene and that's it.
Example: If one of your verbs was "throwing"
"The sun threw rays onto the pavement, an intense heat illuminating the tired stone."

| There are many cars that pass by, especially from times 5pm through 7:30 because many are coming home from work. At 5 the sun still shines brightly as its rays shoot down and light and keep the summer's heat beaming down on the neighborhood. Starting at around 6 food gets thrown on tables so that meals could be eaten. More time passes as the sun to sets turning the sky to shades of orange, pink, and sometimes even purple until finally the neighborhood loses all the sun's light for the day as the sky darkens to midnight blue. After rush hour ends and dinner has finished up, cheering can be heard as football games being shown on TV and the game comes to an end. Fans that were routing for the team that won cheer as they were proud that the team won. |
