FOX HUN--I mean Hunting Patrol :D

It'll mostly be a hunting patrol, but I'll probably throw in the injured fox kit later, whether it's dead or just running along, still injured. Your character(s) can react any way you want, it doesn't matter x3

Ic: Addertail led a small patrol out of the gorse tunnel, his chin high and his mouth open slightly as he tasted the air, trying to detect nearby prey. It didn't take long for several scents to hit the roof of his mouth, alerting him of the nearby prey, and he paused once they were a good distance away from camp. Turning to the group, he spoke in a quiet tone as to not alert any nearby critters that would soon be fresh-kill if they could catch them.
"Remember, this is a normal hunting patrol. Of course you are to keep your senses alert for the fox, but don't rush off on your own if you detect it. Tell us first; Nightfire didn't say how big or old it was." The tom whispered, then nodded his head. "Now spread out and do your best to catch as much prey as possible."

Foxfang followed his father, near trudging his paws. He had more or less forced himself to come along. The main reason he had wanted to come along was to fight his namesake, but the ginger also needed to provide his clan with food, not deplete it of herbs. His large paws made slight noises on the forest floor as the group searching for both prey and the supposed fox.

Stormblaze stood beside Addertail.
"If I smell a fox, I will climb a tree and check it out from above. If you hear a yowl, get your tails over there," Stormblaze grinned.

Addertail rolled his eyes. "Of course. I'll head in the direction of Sunningrocks to hunt, and will meet back here after I've caught a few things." He meowed, then turned ad rushed off towards Sunningrocks.
He stopped at a midpoint between the rocks and the place he said he would meet them at, where the underbrush was slightly shorter but thick. He crouched, detecting the scent of vole nearby, and began to silently crawl towards it. As the creature came into view, Addrtail bunched his muscles, and sprang from his hiding spot, landing directly on the vole and pinning it's muzzle into the ground with a large paw to keep it quiet. He quickly bit into its neck, releasing when it had gone limp, then quickly buried it to pick up later.

Stormblaze raced off with his mouth open, scents flooding him. He found a mouse and killed it swiftly.

"Alright.", he meowed, and headed off in the opposite direction, into the forest. Scenting the air with an open maw, he located a blackbird feasting on the buds of a bush. Creeping up on it, his grey eyes locked on the unsuspecting bird. With a huge lunge, he swiped it off the bush and crushed it's neck; quite by accident, under the weight of his paw.

Addertail perked his ears as he paused, hearing the gentle scuttle of a squirrel nearby. He crouched and slithered over to peer under a bush, spotting the squirrel a few tail-lengths away on the ground, munching on a nut. The tom narrowed his eyes and shot forward, slamming a claw directly into the squirrel's side and puncturing one of its tiny lungs. It gasped quietly and died. He buried it with his vole.

Falconflight went near a fallen tree were there was a plump mouse sitting there.He leaped and bit the mouse.Falconflight glanced at the fallen tree.Why did Wolfpaw have to die?He was so young.But how did a Shadowclan warrior even got near him?I bet the Shadowclan warrior must have been looking for Soulfang...Suddenly, he opened his mouth to look for more prey when his mouth was filled with a foul stench that closely related to a foxes scent."Could it be near here?"

Ooc: Because we need to move this along.

Ic: Addertail sniffed the air, padding through another bush. He almost ran right into Falconflight, but quickly stopped himself and backed up a few steps. "Sorry about that." He apologized, though scrunched his nose slightly at the sudden smell. He glanced at the other warrior in wonder, then padded up beside him to look around a little.
"Hey, Falconflight." He meowed after a moment. "Does the air smell like fox to you?"

Falconflight opened his mouth again.I hate foxes."Yes it does,"he replied to Addertail."But its ne-"In the corner of his eye he saw a flash a red fur, somewhere near the fallentree."Fox!"

OCC:I have a bad feeling about this...

Perking his ears up at the voices slightly farther away, he listened to their shouts. "Fox..!", he heard someone say. Quickly burying his catch under a young bush, Foxfang dashed over to the duo. Either they had called him and he hadn't heard the rest, or the real deal could be lurking nearby. Slowing to a trot, the two still weren't in sight. Opening his maw to try and find a scent, a horrible, musky smell invaded his lungs. So, that was what a fox smells like.

Addertail nodded. He turned to glance at Foxfang, suddenly feeling a little protective of his son. Shaking the thought away since he was a warrior now and could watch over himself, Addertail instead turned to Falconflight. "Go find Stormblaze and get him here as well." He meowed. "Foxfang and I will keep an eye on it; See what we're dealing with." With that, he looked over his houlder once more at Foxfang and flicked his tail, beckoning him to follow as he swiftly but quietly leaped over the bush to look around more.

The tom darted behind a fallen log and poked his head over it, flattening his ears. In front of him, a few tail-lengths away, was a terribly wounded fox kit who looked just a few moons old. It was curled up and looked terrified, as if it had already scented them and had tried to hide here. Addertail narrowed his eyes, wondering why it was in such state. Was this the fox Nightfire had been talking about that had distracted him? If it was in this condition, then he wasn't surprised that his brother had taken his eyes off Soulfang for a moment. This was a fox kit in near-death condition and it would surprise anyone if it came running their way. Soulfang got a lucky enough break to escape.
