le Cedar y Night's Border Patrol [anyone can join]

It was sundown and Sagestar was sitting by the camp entrance, patiently watching his clan stir and waiting for the arrival of his two new apprentices for their first official day of training, and anyone else who wanted to show up if they liked. It was a border patrol, nothing too serious.

Cedarpaw had had a tough night in his new den. He had been too excited about training to sleep, constantly tossing and turning. He yawned quietly to himself, walking out of the den as the word was becoming dark and the sky orange.

Nightpaw bounced out of apprentice's den, she had forced her self to get to sleep earlier so she would be ready for training the morning after.Nightpaw stopped mid step and gave her chest a few licks before joining them. "What are we going to see first?" She asked her Sagestar with curious eyes.She glaced at Cedarpaw to see how he slept. She had heard him tossing in his moss almost all night and it had annoyed her greatly.

Sagestar nodded to both of the apprentices as they approached. "I hope you both are well rested. We have a long walk ahead of us." It'd certainly be an exercise for two cats who had hardly left camp more than a few times in their lives. He turned his green gaze to Nightpaw, smiling gently at her. "Let's start at Carrionplace and work our way to Fourtrees, shall we?"
Might as well get the worst out of the way as quickly as possible. That being a rhetorical question, he didn't wait for an answer and slid through the camp exit.

I have to remember every thing! this is my first time out of camp and I need to learn every thing I can learn about the territory so I can use it to my advantage if we are under attack! She thought. Her eyes wandered the land as she sprinted after her leader, after a while her breathing became labored for she hadn't run this much before.

"Sure." Cedarpaw said, slightly more awake as he heard his objective. His beige tail flicked, the white tip touching the ground each time. After they started moving, Cedarpaw fell into step next to Nightpaw, also looking around.

Sagestar was moving at a pretty fast pace, even more than usual, so he supposed he shouldn't have been surprised when he heard one of the apprentices tiring down. The tom frowned and slowed down a bit. One of the first things they needed to know if they were to be ShadowClan warriors were that they'd need a tough endurance - and a natural ability to be stealthy - especially on their homeland.

"Cedarpaw, stop dragging your tail." He near spat behind his shoulder at the young tom, "And Nightpaw, calm yourself. We're nearly there. You two should be able to scent it in a matter of heartbeats."

Nightpaw Flinched and calmed herself a tad more before glancing at Cedarpaw. She hadn't noticed He was dragging his tail. She turned her attention to the smell and within a few heartbeats she could smell the stench.

"Sorry, Sagestar." said Cedarpaw, though he was lost in thought. Scent? What was that? He had heard the word once or twice, but it confused him greatly. Realizing he'd sound like an idiot for asking, he continued on, making sure to have him tail raised high.

Totally not to put Cedarpaw on the spot, Sagestar slowed down and paused in a patch of tall grass, a mere few fox-lengths from where the Carrionplace would be able to come into view. "Take a few moments to get used to the stench." The leader frowned, "This place is where twolegs dump all of their crow-food and it only gets worse the closer you get to it."
He said and paused a few moments, not too keen on adding on that this was also their best source of prey during leaf-bare, eating the rats that scurried there... Life was harsh.

He looked at Nightpaw for a few moments then caught the puzzled look on Cedarpaw's face. Frowning, the tom asked, "Is there a problem?"

Stench. Another appalling word. Maybe that was another word for sight he did not know. It did look terribly putrid.
"No problem." answered Cedarpaw with a reassuring smile.

Nightpaw realized she had been wrinkling her nose. She let it relax and put on a smile. "Nope, no problem' she answered with honestly and her blue eyes wandered the land. She noticed a rat a few fox lengths away but decided not to point it out then turned her eyes to a nearby tree, She saw a few notches in the bark and tiny branches sprouted from the base, witch looked like it would be kinda easy to climb.Night paw decided not to dwell on that. She turned her attention to Sagestar for more information."Where is the best source of prey in leafbare?" She asked, curious for the bit of information that could feed her clan in the times of poverty.

Sagestar gave the younger tom another uncertain look, but nodded and dropped his head, turning his attention to Nightpaw.

"Carrionplace, actually." The leader answered blandly, "It's the one place that has assured prey all year round. When the clan needs to focus more time on our borders or preparing for a battle, we will hunt there also, it saves less time for hunting." He flicked his ear and started walking closer to the two-leg dump site, making a small bee-line for the small WindClan border. There was also the danger of sickness from those rats, but they'd find that out eventually. Luckily Softwhisper knew all the cures for whatever might be thrown at them.
He tried to keep the hairs on his pelt from standing from the putrid smell.

Cedarpaw seemed less phased, walking behind Sagestar with his head high. He blinked a few times, seeing rats scurrying across the Carrionplace. Dumb Twolegs. Couldn't they dump their waste somewhere else; In Windclan territory, for example?

Nightpaw nodded and watched the rats as they padded by. Her mind buzzed with questions when they came closer to the source of the stench.
