Firepaw's Training(Hunting)

Wispcloud padded out of camp and slid joyfully down the ravine. He stood at the bottom, waiting for Firepaw. My first apprentice! he thought with joy, and knew Firepaw must be excited too.

Firepaw ran over to Wispcloud."hi" he mewed cheerfully "what are we going to do today?"

"Hunting." the tom answered, firmly, leading his apprentice back up the other side of the ravine and into the forest.

Time Skip

After a bit of walking, the two made it deep into the forest and undergrowth. Wispcloud turned to his apprentice. "How is your first day out of camp? Oh, and tell me what you can smell." he added, sitting and looking to his apprentice.

"i can smell mice, forest and cats and it's great first day out of camp" he mewed."Can we hunt know?" he mewed impatiently.

Wispcloud laughed. "You're just like me! So excited to get something done!" Wispcloud twitched his ears, and swiveled his head around, spotting a mouse. He dropped into a crouch, holding it for a while to let his apprentice see it, then crept forward, then pounced, claws outstretched towards the tiny creature. The mouse squeaked and tried to scamper away, but it was too late. Wispcloud trapped it between his claws and ended it's life with a quick bite to it's spine. He dropped his kill and turned to Firepaw. "And that, Firepaw, is how you hunt. Now, try for that vole over there." he whispered, gesturing with his tail towards a vole.

Firepaw crept up on the vole and pounced, neatly biting it's spine.He picked it up proudly and padded over to Wispcloud,then he set the vole down "look Wispcloud i caught it!"he mewed happily

Wispcloud smiled. "That's great, Firepaw. Now, tell me what else you can smell, and try to catch two more pieces of prey." he instructed, nodding.

"I smell bird "he mewed turning around and saw it pecking at the ground Firepaw then crept forward and pounced.The bird flew away before he could catch it "mouse-dung!" he spat.

Firepaw sniffed the air again "mice"he mewed,he crept out of site and pounced.He came back in site with nothing in his jaw.

Wispcloud was still smiling, though. "It's ok, no one can always be perfect at hunting. Now, let's go back to camp, two is enough prey. Next time, we'll do borders." he mewed, and then picked up his kill and started towards camp.

Firepaw followed Wispcloud back to camp.
