| Because I'm bored, I'm bring you your daily dose of ruining your point of view of everything you heard as a child.
Today, is ruining nursery rhymes.
Oh f*ck yes.
First off, Three Blind Mice. Right off the bat it's pretty gruesome.
Three blind mice, three blind mice,
See how they run, see how they run,
They all ran after the farmer's wife,
Who cut off their tails with a carving knife,
Did you ever see such a thing in your life,
As three blind mice?
It's really about three noblemen that conspired against Mary I.
Bloody Mary I.
I'll give you a second to think about that carving knife, now.
Now, one of my parent's personal favorite, Georgie Porgie.
Georgie Porgie pudding and pie
Kissed the girls and made them cry
When the boys came out to play
Georgie Porgie ran away.
So, basically about some p*ssy on the playground trying to hit on some young girls?
You f*cking wish it was about that.
It's a reference to a gay sex scandal involving Charles I and George Villiers. And he, I shet you not, got the title Gentleman of the Bedchamber. Him running away would be Parliament cutting off the relationship and him cheesing it.
Oh, and think about pudding and pie for a second with that context.
Have fun with that mental image.
Goosey Goosey Gander, whither shall I wander?
Upstairs and downstairs and in my Lady's chamber.
There I met an old man who wouldn't say his prayers,
So I took him by his left leg and threw him down the stairs.
Ah, Goosey Goosey Gander.
Just nonsense, right?
...Right?
16th century Europe. Protestants were busy killing Catholics. They'd find a Catholic priest. If the priest didn't say his prayers in English rather than Latin, execution by stairs, B*TCH.
Oh, and "goose" is a slang term for a prostitute loaded with STDs; that's why it's in there in the first place. The term "goose bumps" comes from the red bumps... Ah, you'll figure it out on your own.
All around the mulberry bush
The monkey chased the weasel;
The monkey thought 'twas all in good sport
Pop! goes the weasel.
A penny for a spool of thread,
A penny for a needle-
That's the way the money goes,
Pop! goes the weasel.
I'm just going to jump into this one. It's about the cycle of poverty. A huge chunk consists of cockney terms. To "pop" is to pawn something. A weasel is a slang term for coat.
Basically, no matter how poor a dude was, he was expected to dress nicely for Sunday.
And here are some other verses:
Up and down the City road,
In and out the Eagle,
That's the way the money goes,
Pop! goes the weasel.
Eagle = Eagle Tavern; poverty caused by heavy drinking and depression. Boom.
And now, finally, Mary Mary Quite Contrary.
You might want to brace yourself.
Mary Mary quite contrary,
How does your garden grow?
With silver bells and cockleshells
And pretty maids all in a row.
We're back to Bloody Mary again. I'll just translate this for you. Garden = Graveyard from the people executed Silver bells = Torture device that crushed thumbs Cockleshells = Torture device for the genitals. The Maiden = Mary's good ol' guillotine
And you were going to sing this to your kids, you sick b*stards. ______________________________________ ‹‹ former site administrator ›› pm me |

| There is another one...
do you remember when kids held hands and danced in circles?
ring around the rosy pokets full of possy ashes ashes! we all fall down! then they jump down
The words to the Ring around the rosy children's ring game have their origin in English history . The historical period dates back to the Great Plague of London in 1665 (bubonic plague) or even before when the first outbreak of the Plague hit England in the 1300's. The symptoms of the plague included a rosy red rash in the shape of a ring on the skin (Ring around the rosy). Pockets and pouches were filled with sweet smelling herbs ( or posies) which were carried due to the belief that the disease was transmitted by bad smells. The term "Ashes Ashes" refers to the cremation of the dead bodies! The death rate was over 60% and the plague was only halted by the Great Fire of London in 1666 which killed the rats which carried the disease which was transmitting via water sources. The English version of "Ring around the rosy" replaces Ashes with (A-tishoo, A-tishoo) as violent sneezing was another symptom of the disease. The connection between this Rhyme was made by James Leasor in 1961 in his non-fiction book ' The Plague and the Fire. Some people are sceptical of the plague interpretations of this rhyme, many stating that words in the rhyme cannot be found in Middle English. The sceptics must be referring to the later version of the rhyme, possibly with American origins, the English version is "Ring a ring o' rosies" using the Middle English "o" as a shortening of the word "of". The written word " posies" is first mentioned in a poem called 'Prothalamion or A Spousal Verse' by Edmund Spenser (1552-1599). We believe that this addresses the views of the sceptics.
creepy right? *shivers* I cant belive I sang that when I was little.

| Sleepy saved my life but then again ruined it. Ruined it by telling me the truth about the nursery rhymes I used to sing but saved my life by telling me the truth about them and making sure my future children do not sing the "nursery" rhymes.
WHY MUST PEOPLE MAKE YOUNG KIDS SING HORROR RHYMES!! WHY!!! :manly cry: |
