The impatient Wildkit

Wildkit padded up to his mother and complained, "I want to become an apprentice! I'm almost six moons old!" "almost is not the same as being, little one. You will be an apprentice as soon as Featherstar allows it. Untill then, you are still a kit." his mother replied. Wildkit soon got some fresh-kill and settled down in the nursery. Soon after he had eaten, he was fast asleep.

Wildkit woke up the next day ready to play fight with his nursery mates nobody wanted to fight so he went to see if he could go outside. "Mother, can we go outside the camp?" he asked. His mother replied, "You know we can't do that. Only warriors and apprentices can go outside the camp. Apprentices can only go outside with warriors anyway.Now go grab some fresh-kill for us to share." Wildkit bounded off in the direction of the fresh-kill pile. he picked up a squirrel and a mouse and dragged them back to the nursery. He started chewing ravenously at the mouse whereas his mother barely nibbled on the squirrel. "What's wrong Mommy?" Wildkit asked. "Oh, I was just thinking about your father, the leader before Featherstar, that's all." she replied. Wildkit shrugged and continued to eat. Soon he decided to lounge around for awhile
