Pineblossom
Pineblossom wandered through the camp, mostly just trying to stretch her legs after a nap she was able to take that day—oh stars when did she start taking naps? Regardless, it was nice to just walk around a bit here and there. It did lead to her getting a bit distracted and she nearly tripped over a kit that was looking around outside of the nursery. She scrambled backwards to avoid stepping on the little one and then blinked down at her. “Hello.” She had not really met the new kits. Not for any particular reason…she had just been busy and the nursery had all but left her mind after she was no longer stuck there with her own children. “What is your name, little one?”

The night was warmer than previous ones had been, and little Briarkit had been eager to get out of the confines of the nursery. She had been more focused on a watching the distant (in her view) entrance to camp than her surroundings... And the sudden appearance of a warrior's white paws nearly colliding with her sent the kit tumbling back, wide green eyes gazing up at the she-cat who had asked her name. She should have been paying more attention... But maybe the other she-cat was as distracted by the tempting camp entrance as she was. Or maybe not - it seemed that the warriors were content to keep kits tucked safely in the camp... Their territory truly couldn't be that dangerous.
"I'm Briarkit," She squeaked out, "Leopardstar's kit!"
A small smile came to her face. Ah yes, Leopardstar’s new litter. It had been so long since her first was in the nursery. Her heart ached thinking of those that were lost. She replied, “That’s right—hello Briarkit. I’m Pineblossom. It’s nice to officially meet you.” She sat down, content to chat with the kit for a bit before she had to continue with her duties. “What are you up to this evening?”
"It's nice to meet you, Pineblossom," That was... Polite enough, right? Mom and some of the queens did tell the kits to mind their manners a bit more, and Briarkit did try to.
"Uh," Totally not eyeing the camp entrance for any reason at all, most definitely not because she wanted to see the territory that she had heard so much, that only the warriors and apprentices were able to go out and explore, "Exploring! Yeah. Exploring." Briarkit mewed, "The nursery is so crowded and it's kinda boring in there."
Exploring, hmm? Pineblossom nodded to Briarkit and said, “The camp has a lot of places to hide and explore. I’m sure you’re itching to be able to leave—don’t worry. Your six moons will come soon enough.” She stretched again, feeling a nice burn in her muscles as she loosens them up. “I was walking around to stretch and realized I had not spoken with you yet. If you’d like, we can walk around the camp together. A little more exciting than being stuck in the nursery, no?”
"Everyone says that, but it feels like I've been waiting forever!" Briarkit couldn't help but whine just a little, "Do we have to be six moons old?" It must have been a conspiracy, it felt like she and her siblings were all close enough to that magical number that the clan leadership could have easily made an exception... Just the once. Because she and her siblings were loved, and were important, and would make great warriors!
"Around camp?" Try as she might, Briarkit couldn't quite hide the disappointment as her gaze drifted toward the entrance of camp once more. But Pineblossom seemed nice and had gone out of her way to talk with her, it would be rude not to, wouldn't it? "Okay," She mewed. And Pineblossom was right - it was better than sitting around. And if she was with Pineblossom maybe she'd continue to have a reprieve from the crowded den full of other kits.

Pineblossom nodded and started to lead the way to walk about camp. She replied, “Yes you have to be six moons. I was also excited to get going when I was a kit. The nursery felt so suffocating. Your six moons will come swiftly.” And, hopefully, there will be no horrible disaster like there had been right at the start of her apprenticeship.
While they walked she said, “You know, our territory is the most dangerous out of all the clans. All clans have predators, but our territory has a lot of dangers outside of that too, such as twolegs, an influx of dogs, diseased rats, mud traps…When you’re kept in camp and not taken out until you’re old enough, it is because generations of cats living here have learned that it is unsafe for kits. Your mother wants to keep you int the camp until you’re old enough because she wants you safe and healthy.”

Briarkit was quick to scamper after the warrior, hanging onto every word as she spoke. She supposed the older cats did have a reason... But the nursery was so very cramped and she did not quite understand why a few days would hurt. Still, she had done enough complaining and would try to stop, contenting herself with the images that Pineblossom conjured with her words.
They were terrifying images, in truth, but Briarkit thought she might be able to handle all the dangers that the territory could send her way. Just like a proper Shadowclan cat could. "I think I understand... That just means that when I become an apprentice I have to train harder, right? If the warriors can handle that, I'll be the best of them!" Eventually... Eventually she would be.
Pineblossom smiled and she nodded. “That is true. ShadowClan cat all need to train hard. We do not get the chance to gorge on fish or frolic in flowers like other clans. It is what makes us strong.” She looked down at the little kit beside her. “I am sure that whatever cat gets to train you will keep you strong as well. ShadowClan is full of great warriors who will teach you much the same.”
Pineblossom was right, Shadowclan had the greatest warriors across all the clans, and they were skilled enough to be able to handle such dangerous territory for a reason. "And that's what makes Shadowclan warriors the best, that's what everyone says anyways!" Briarkit mewed. Badgers and the other clans were already at a disadvantage, but if she got one of Shadowclan's best for a mentor, they really wouldn't stand a chance.
"I wonder who Sablestrike will pick for my mentor?" Mom would be an amazing choice, but Pineblossom seemed super nice and like she knew a lot of things, too.
