Rowansong was a cat that was as strong as he was stubborn. It had been moons since the attack at the lake and he remained…well. Optimistic was not the correct word. Poppyshine had seen his expression and the way he stared listlessly at the wall. He was as optimistic as the next cat about his chances of regaining his ability to walk in the future. Littlesplash was going a great job taking care of him and treating his pain, but Poppyshine didn’t have to speak with him to know that his prognosis would be all the same. Rowansong would know it too…He was simply stubborn and did not want to admit to it. At least, that was what Poppyshine believed. She wouldn’t push her son any sooner than he needed to be.

“Good morning dear,” Poppyshine meowed as she stepped into the medicine den. She brought a fish between her teeth and set it down in front of his nest. She smiled as best she could given the weight of the past moons. “You look a little more awake today. How are your pain levels?” She looked towards his tail and hated to see how it lay still behind him instead of waving lazily as it usually did. Perhaps Poppyshine could ask Rowansong if he wanted to be groomed a little later. His fur did not hold the usual bright sheen that it typically did.
